When someone wins the Best In Category Award, this is a permanent award. It cannot be revoked, but you can pawn it off for a few bucks to buy some primo java down at Starbucks. The winning author(s) and story(ies) will be listed here and in a separate section (since this part will go away from time to time). The award itself will also appear in the author's section, next to the winning story. That way, anyone who comes into that author's section will see that this story was selected and voted by his or her peers as being one of the best among them. Should you win, be humbled that your peers think so highly of you.

There are a couple of ground rules, but it's nothing too serious:

• Don't nominate your own story. I only say that because this more of where your peers are recognizing the work you've done, not you recognizing yourself for what you've done. And if you don't recognize yourself, try taking off your Halloween mask -- uh, maybe you should put it back on. ^.~



• Nominate the story, not the author. This is pretty self-explanatory. But do include the author's name, so I know where to find it.



• Vote only once, but for as many as you like. I'll elaborate on this. If there are seven nominations, but you really like two of them; vote for both of them. But please only vote once in the whole process. Don't come back tomorrow and vote again. In a democracy, you only get one vote. The same applies here.



• Fics that have already won the BIC are ineligible for nomination. That's pretty self-explanatory.



• The Other Romance (RN) category IS NOT ELIGIBLE for the Best In Category contest. Put simply, any fic that does NOT have Gen., AAMRN, JAJRN, TR, O, OT, or CO next to the title IS NOT eligible for this competition. It IS NOT to be presumed that the RN category can be an Other category, or any other category for that matter. To read about why this is the case, read FAQ #16.



• DO NOT FLOOD ME with nominations for one author. We have a lot of talented authors here, but don't try to convince me that if this author has six *really awesome* AAMRN fanfics that they should be all nominated. I won't buy it. Pick one or two of your favorites. Besides that, flooding me with the fanfics of one author might force other author nominations to not make onto the voting poll. Also, this is considered spamming and I will invalidate any further nominations from that person -- and yes, I CAN track you. So please, *think* about the nomination, then do it.

I hope the rules are clear. If not, just contact me and I'll clarify any questions you have. I may have to adjust these rules, pending new information, but that's highly doubtful. So get out there and read some fics! Nominate a story or two that you really like, then vote on it!

Be sure to read all the nominated fanfics, so that you give a fair vote to all of them!
