Elemental Distortion

Prologue

By Windra

Darkness was inevitable, inavoidable, undefeatable...it always was, always will be, and will never change. Darkness thrives in the hearts of every single creature in existance, in the hearts of humans, animals, Pokémon, and will never die...for as long as there is man, or any other living thing, there will always be hatred and envy, the longing for death, and the depression of those who have experienced it. There will always be suicidals, murderers, homicidals, rapists...everything you can think of. Darkness is a part of life, something that everything obtains...

~Especially me...~

A low voice, that, although unheard by the living organisms of the world, made the Planet shiver. Nobody could see the source of the voice, not yet, not now...but perhaps they would, if all its plans went correctly.

Blood-red eyes peered out from a dark void, full of nothingness, with no life, no death, no purgatory. The only thing that existed there was a single form, a genderless, featureless, and figureless form. Its dark tendrils reached out, caressing the darkness around it, seeping into it. It hands that shouldn't have existed stretched out into three claws, and placed the tip of one in front of the 'looking glass' in front of it, letting the vision of the surface of the Planet ripple out of view, as if it had just tapped the surface of a calmed lake. The 'looking glass' swirled for a moment, then flashed into darkness. A single sneer appeared on the creature's face for a moment, and its ruby eyes flashed angrily for a moment before it stared up into more darkness, something that was eternal here.

~My plans will carry out...you cannot forbid me to enter your world this time, Dragons. You have died, you are no longer in existance...and, when I return, you cannot fight me...~

A single snicker echoed from its featureless face, and it echoed into the pits of eternity, rebounding off of the unseen barriers, the barriers that have weakened significantly since the creature's imprisonment...

In a mountain range far away from civilization, a mountain range that was completely lifeless, yet full of life, full of something that the world would soon rely upon, six elliptical figures shuddered violently. A low growl emitted from one of them, one that was full of so much anger and rage that Darkness seemed to radiate from it. And, although it cried out, no one could hear it...the creature from the bowels of Eternity could not hear its voice, but the things that rested in the other five eggs did.

::You won't win,:: the voice growled menacingly. ::You haven't won before, and you never will.::

::Silence, sister of mine,:: another voice, this one much calmer, but still panic-stricken, creeled. ::We will wait. Daimon cannot hear us...not yet... Ours will come soon...they have to...::

::I should hope so,:: another voice crooned, somewhat softly, and somewhat irritably. ::When they come, we will fight beside them. We will fight with Air.::

::And Fire,:: another voice growled, somewhat angrily and high-strung.

::We will fight with Water,:: another voice, this one calmer and more patient, spoke out.

::With Earth,:: yet another, more earthly voice, cried out.

::We will fight with Darkness,:: the first voice that had spoken said again.

::And with Light,:: the second voice that had spoken said again. ::And together...we will win again.::

Five miles away, unaware of the dangers that would begin, unaware of the struggle between Life and Death that would lay ahead of them, two humans woke up with a start. And, slightly farther away from that group, three others awoke...and one more child woke up from her dreams not too far away from the group of three.
