Chapter 3: I…Can't Believe
It's You!
That night, Team Rocket waited
outside the Pokémon Center, preparing to launch their latest plan to snatch
Pikachu. They were just reviewing the final steps to make sure everyone
understood the plan.
"Okay, so we'll sneak in
through the back, grab the twerps' pokémon, then make our getaway in the
balloon," Jessie was saying. The trio was huddled outside the main
entrance in a clump of bushes, to avoid being spotted.
"What happens if someone
catches us?" James asked nervously.
"If someone does see us,
then we'll just attack them and steal their pokémon as well," Jessie
replied coolly. She obviously had no intentions of this plan getting foiled by
anyone. "Does everyone understand?"
"Meowth undastands
poifectly," said Meowth.
Jessie turned to face her
partner. "Do you understand this, James?" she asked.
"Yeah," he replied
softly.
"Alright, team. Let's
move out," said the redheaded leader. She crawled out of the bushes and
led her two teammates around to the back door of the center. Once they reached
the door, she waited for her partner to pick open the lock. The team waited for
a minute or so before they heard a welcoming 'click', signaling that the door
had successfully been unlocked. As the Team entered, they decided on who would
be taking who.
"Okay I'll get Pikachu
and that twerp's other pokémon," said Jessie, holding up a shock-proof
container and a bag.
"I'll get da redhead's
pokémon and Togepi," Meowth said as he pulled out another cloth bag.
"I guess that leaves me
with the squinty twerp's pokémon," said James, holding up his own bag.
"Right. Everyone knows
what they're doing, so let's do it," Jessie said. The trio then headed off
in different directions, ready to get what they came for.
As James silently made his way
down a long corridor, he couldn't help but think about the girl he saw earlier
that day. 'She looked so familiar, almost exactly like Jasmyna, but I could be
wrong. It could've been someone else. If only I could just remember.' he
thought to himself. He froze suddenly when he heard the sound of something
coming down the hallway, from the same direction he was headed. "W-w-what
was th-th-that?" he whispered aloud. He then realized that he was standing
in plain sight of whoever, or whatever, was coming. Instinctively, he reached
for his belt and grabbed the poke ball containing his Weezing. 'If that's any
of the twerps, I am soooo dead,' he thought anxiously. He stayed absolutely
silent as whoever or whatever was causing the noise came closer and closer.
Suddenly, it jumped right at him. He wanted to scream, but couldn't find his
voice to do so. Instead, he just stood there, mouth open, frozen stiff with
fear.
When he finally dared to move,
(not to mention breathe), James decided to start back down the hallway,
cautiously listening for any sounds coming from his direction. 'I'm letting my
mind get the best of me,' he thought as he made his way through the dark hall.
'It was probably just crickets outside or something. I've just got to keep
telling myself...nothing's coming after me, nothing's coming after me, noth-'
he froze suddenly as he felt something brush up against his leg. His first
instinct was to scream and run away, but something inside his head told him to
keep quiet, stay put, and see what it was. When he did, he found himself
looking into the shiny, brown eyes of.
"A F-F-F-Flareon?"
he said out loud. "But then, who-"
A voice from the shadows
answered his unfinished question. "Flare can always distinguish her
friends from her enemies, and it looks to me that she's designated you…as her
friend," it said.
James froze. He recognized the
voice, but he couldn't place a name with it. In his calmest voice, (which
didn't sound calm since he was terrified), he called out, "Wh-wh-who's
th-th-there?"
The voice giggled. "You
mean to tell me that you don't recognize me?" it replied, still giggling.
After hearing the voice a
second time, James was almost certain that he knew who it was. He called out
the first name that came to mind: "J-J- Jas-Jasmyna?"
The owner of the voice stepped
out of the shadows and faced him. It was a teenage girl with long, blonde hair
tied into a ponytail, crystal blue eyes, and pale skin. She was wearing a blue
jacket over a lime-green t-shirt, blue jeans, and brown boots. She smiled at
the blue-haired teen in front of her. "That's my name. Don't wear it
out," she said, grinning.
James was completely in shock.
This was the exact same girl he had seen earlier. After he realized that he
wasn't dreaming, he returned the smile and pulled his sister into a tight
embrace. "I...can't believe it's you!" he said, tears of joy
streaming down his cheeks.
Jasmyna returned her brother's
tight embrace. "Well, you'd better believe it, James. I'm back!"
