Wai! Another chapter!
Disclaimer: If I owned pokemon, Yellow would have died! Mwahaha!
Chapter 4
“Lance?”
“Yes, Red?” Lance asked, not looking up from his physics assignment. They were doing a short unit on it in science. Mew, but he hated physics…
Still, it had to be done, and this was a lot easier than what he had done in Indigo…
“I.. um… well…”
“What is it?”
Red sighed. “Are pokemon real?”
Lance closed his eyes. “It’s just a story, Red.”
“Is it? I wish it were real… you know, I used to dream about having a Charmander, but then there were these weird pokemon – I think they were yellow and shot electricity… isn’t that cool?”
“Pikachu.” Lance muttered, almost inaudibly.
“What?”
“Red, can you keep a secret?”
“Sure.”
Lance pulled his pokedex out of his backpack and handed it to Red. “Here. It may answer some of your questions.”
Red thanked him and went outside, then turned it on.
Two hours later, he was still reading up on the pokemon. * This is so cool! It’s like a video game, kind of, but where did Lance get it? It’s his… *
The pokedex kept Red occupied for several days as he memorized all the information. It was cool…
Hmm….
“Lance?”
“Yes?”
“How many pokemon have you caught?”
“Not many.” Lance said truthfully. “I only like dragons.”
“Cool. Pikachus are so cute, aren’t they?”
“I suppose…”
“I wish I could have one…”
The pokedex! Why hadn’t he thought of it before? He hadn’t used it in forever, that was probably why, but it should have phone capability…
At least, the newer versions did. Even if this one couldn’t call, he should still be able to get to the League Network.
Oh… why hadn’t he thought of it?
Lance sighed as he took the pokedex back from Red and began dialing Indigo League HQ. However, soon he received the ‘not in range’ message.
“Okay, what is the range?”
“Range of pokedex – 1000 kilometers.”
“So I’m not within 1000 km of Indigo… damn…”
Well, so much for that idea… if he had possessed a psychic-type, he could have tried to teleport home, or use the pokedex to send a psychic pokemon here…
Ah well… he might as well get used to living here. It wasn’t that bad…
“Lance?”
“What is it now?”
“Um…” Red fidgeted. “You’re really from the pokemon world, aren’t you?”
“Correct… but I have no way of going home.”
“That must be terrible.”
“I can bear it. Your mom is a nice woman.”
“Yes, she is.” Red grinned. * Lance could have wound up in foster care here. That would suck… *
“Well, there’s no use dwelling on the past. Shall we go get dinner? I think I hear her calling us.”
“Yay! We have scalloped potatoes and riblets tonight! Yum!”
Red raced down the stairs as Lance followed sedately. It was interesting having a younger brother… different, but not too unpleasant.
“So, did you finish your homework you two?”
“I’m done.”
“Me too, mom!”
“That’s good.” Delia stifled a yawn. She’d been putting in a few extra hours at the firm and it was starting to show.
True, she didn’t mind the work, but sometimes the clients ere unbearable. For example, right now Mr. And Mrs. Witherspoon were involved in a divorce. She did not to hear every detail of their soppy life…
At least it was going quickly…
The next day, Red and Lance were walking home together when the bullies who had accosted him a month ago reappeared.
Lance smirked. “Oh?”
“We’re here to give you what you deserve!”
Red hid behind Lance who was a head taller. This didn’t look good.
“Tsk, tsk… didn’t you learn your lesson last time?”
“Oh yeah? Well, take this!”
Red screamed when a gun was produced, red eyes closing in fear. The lead boy fired…
*Clang*
The bullets ricocheted off an invisible shield that flared up around the two as Lance released his Dragonair.
“You deserve whatever you get this time. Hakuryuu, twister!” Twister was the weakest dragon-type move he could think of. Dragonair nodded, spinning his body as a giant cyclone of wind sucked the bullies inside and blasted them off.
They’d land miles away and not return for at least a few days.
Red blinked in shock.
“No way…”
“Yes way.” Lance grinned. “Red, meet Hakuryuu. He’s actually very nice.”
Red hesitantly put out a hand and rested it along the dragon’s smooth blue scales. Hakuryuu licked his face.
“Aww! It’s so nice!”
“Yes isn’t he?”
“But… you actually have real live pokemon with you?”
“Only a few, unfortunately. All my others are at home… I hope they’re safe.”
“I wish I could go see the pokemon world.”
“So do I, Red, but I doubt either of us will be seeing it anytime soon…”
