Prologue/Chapter 1

It had started quite simply, two Champions out on a training trip together to hone their skills. No one thought anything of it. Lance certainly didn’t – true, he usually went out with Lorelei or Agatha, but it would give him a chance to know Bruno better, and the fighting-type trainer had seemed rather edgy as of late.

He found out the true reason too late, insensible as the meaty fist smashed into his face, and he was only dimly aware as Bruno laughed.

“Poor little dragon-boy…”

Without his poke belt, without his pokemon, he really was nothing…

Bruno’s laughter was loud but the pain was worse, and the last thing he saw fuzzily, was an avalanche of falling rocks.

“Pretty, poor dragon-boy.” Bruno laughed, as he recalled Onix, satisfied that the Earthquake attack had done it’s worst. Lance was in no shape to walk, much less run away, and he would never dig himself out of this grave alive.

Now, only Agatha lay in his way of becoming Champion.

He tucked Lance’s Ultra Balls into his belt, and left.

No one disputed his claim when he explained that the Champion had died in a training accident. No rescue crews went to salvage the rockslide, seeing as it was in a remote mountain range and it would be a waste of money.

No one knew that the Dragon Master had not died… save the Dragon Master himself.

Red: *Hugs Lance* Poor, poor, Lance…

Phantomness: Sorry, but Bruno’s a good villain to use. I guess I hate him because I think of him as the weakest of the Elite. Lorelei, Lance and Agatha are all decently hard to beat but for Bruno, all you need is a good flying or psychic type… Also, on the Scale of Hidden Power, Dark, Dragon, Ice, and Ghost are all fairly high, and Fighting is very low…
