“Why does it have to be this way?” Red asked. Lance blinked at him owlishly, still half-asleep and shirtless. Red looked down, a blush tinting his cheeks as he sighed.

“Why what?”

“I love you, but there’s nothing we can do to change the world with this love.”

Lance slid off the bed, standing up. “Does it matter?” He asked quietly, wrapping his arms around Red’s shoulders.

“… I guess not.” Red admitted. It just hurt, to have to hide…

They were supposed to be enemies after all. And he was supposed to love Yellow.

But as Lance ruffled his hair and hugged him, he decided it didn’t really matter.
