“I didn’t think you remembered.” Red whispered, as Lance pulled him into a kiss.

“Did you truly think so little of me? I’m wounded.” Lance mock-pouted. Red giggled, surveying the room.

It was very lovely, done up in dark red velvet, with several lighted candelabras providing light. A delicious meal for two glittered atop the white tablecloth.

“… I should never have…”

Lance silenced him with another kiss. “Leave the misery for another time. Tonight, we’re celebrating.”

He poured wine for them both, rich red glittering in delicate cut crystal. They clinked glasses, and tucked into the appetizers.

Red sighed in ecstasy. Lance had really outdone himself this time. Afterwards, he brought out a cake with chocolate frosting an inch thick and sixteen blue candles.

“Happy Birthday.”

Red blew them out, and wished that the night would never end.
