Lance’s eyes are glazed-gold, like glass, and Ash hides behind him, wrapped in his cloak. The Dragon Master’s fingers are covered with blood, more dripping from his black sleeves, but he doesn’t care, not one bit, because the one that he loves is safe.

The lunatic lies dead, stabbed through the heart.

Lance is sick of those religious fanatics, who hate pokemon and hate same-sex relationships, and think that children shouldn’t be allowed to own pokemon until age eighteen. They’re broken, distorted humans, who should not be here.

Kanto is better off without crazy people like them.

“Lance?”

“It’s done.” He wipes his damp fingertips on the black silk of his clothing. Black hides blood, and it hides all the stains. He’ll keep Ash innocent, and never let sin taint his pure soul.

Ash breathes a sigh of relief. “Did you get hurt?”

“No.” Lance holds out his arms, as the black-haired boy flings himself into his embrace. Beautiful child. His.

“That’s good. I don’t want you to get hurt.”

Murder isn’t as shocking as it should be, Ash thinks. They were going to hurt him – no, them, and Lance is just protecting him like he has always done. Ash likes being protected.

And with Lance, he always will be.

Maybe he’s a lunatic too.
