Lance settled his wings behind his back as he stared up at his father, his expression oddly contemplative. Waiting.
gWhy do you wish for me to do this?h Lugia finally said. gI thought you were happy.h
Lance shook his head, and his eyes were sad. gI lied.h
gNo.h Lugia said. gYou would not lie to me. You were happy, werenft you?h
gYou could always read my heart better than I could, Father.h Lance acquiesced. gBut I saw the flames in his eyes this morning, and I knew. I knew that it was over. I suppose I should be grateful – I had him for a time, and nowch He shivered. gI would rather forget. It is cruel and selfish, butch
gBut you cannot help it. Your love is your sword, but it is a double-edged sword and you bleed for his treason.h Lugia sighed. gOf course I will help as much as I am able.h A faint blue aura shimmered around him and Lance closed his eyes in thanks.
< Forget him thenc forget him. I shall weave ice and iron around your heart and you shall never love another then. Perhaps then, you will find peace, my Childc >
Lance slumped to the ground, wings vanishing, and Lugia watched as he slept peacefully. Moments passed, before he awoke, and nodded.
gThank you,h He whispered.
His boots clicked slightly against the floor, and the moment he stepped outside of the Islands, it was complete.
The next morning, when Red tried to call him, he received only an answering machine, and the day after, he was the only one who remembered who Lance was.
