Gary’s jaw dropped when he saw Lance. It was not the Dragon Master’s appearance that discomfited him, but the sight of the cute little girl standing next to him. Wasn’t that Ash?

“Ash! What are you doing?”

Ash blinked at Gary, cocking his head to one side.

Lance slipped an arm around the boy’s shoulders. “Don’t pay any attention to him, pet.”

“What have you done to him?” Gary demanded, turning to Lance.

“I have done nothing that he did not want. But it’s not nice to call her a boy.” Lance ran his fingers through Ash’s hair.

Gary turned to Ash.

“But I am a girl.” The boy blinked. “Aren’t I?” He looked up at Lance for confirmation.

Golden eyes flashed as the man smirked and nodded.

Lance wrapped his arms around Ash’s shoulders and grinned at the dumbfounded Pallet Trainer. Now the boy was all his.

There was no way Gary would ever be able to take him away again.
