He’s leaving again. He always does. Sometimes I wish that I had a stable boyfriend, one who wasn’t always off traveling. At least he stayed for a week this time, which is longer than he stays at home, so I shouldn’t be unhappy.

Its summer and they’re throwing a huge tournament in Veilstone City, to pay for repairs. Of course he’s attending – I wish I could attend too, and spend more time with him, but all I have is Chansey and she’s really not a batter.

He’s folding his laundry neatly. He really does live out of his backpack, and I wish he would leave something behind – I do have some pictures, but it’s not the same.

“Cheryl?”

I jump. He’s tucking a pair of socks into his duffel. Is he already finished?

“What’s the matter? Why aren’t you getting ready?”

I blink.

Red crosses his arms. “Cheryl… you were listening last night when I mentioned we could sign up for double battles?”

“B-But…” I stammer, “I only have Chansey! And what if I lose?”

“That’s why we’re competing together!” He grins. “I’ll lend you a couple of my Pokemon, and besides, you get better with experience!”

Wait.

He actually wants to help me train?

“Here,” He hands over three more Poke Balls. “We should only need three Pokemon at the most for every battle station, so with these and Chansey you’ll be fine!”

“O-okay!” I quickly start packing. I can’t believe it!

I won’t have to say goodbye to Red after all!

My eyes are so dilated. Not cool! But I have no idea how they got together, maybe I should write a prequel fic sometime. ^^V
