"I guess I should start at the um, start. The threat that now faces was reawaken quite by someone who wanted to cheat death. This lead to a large degree of death and suffering until it was stopped again. We were not able to repair all of the damage from the second encounter, due to the fact it was after we had merged with our human sides." Michael stated staring up at the skylight in the ceiling.
"But what does that have to do with now?" Kimberly asked.
"Everything," Michael replied looking in her direction. The sun had set in the present as the light holder started his tale.
{Flashback: 10,000 years ago}
The large clearing in the forest was strangely quiet in the early morning light. Maybe it was because of the fog or maybe it was because of the three figures standing in the clearing.
One of them was a strange looking blue duck, one a small brown lizard like creature wearing a tight fitting bone helmet and holding a wicked looking bone, and the last was a man in his late 20's holding a quartz staff.
"Golduck, gold duck gold."* Atlas, you have betrayed us. * said the Golduck in an angry tone.
"Marowak," *Never! * responded the marowak know as Atlas.
His human companion/trainer Phillip sighed and stated worriedly, "Atlas, even with your new powers I don't think you can beat her."
"Marowak wak," *We shall see. * The two combatants got into battle positions as they stared each other down.
Meanwhile, a small white figure raced through the mist, followed closely by a small flying dark shape. *Well, do you think we will make it? * asked the small electric/light mouse.
*Maybe. * said the destruction/ psychic. The two forms stopped as the mist simply dissipated. *Or maybe not. * said the mew.
The mist dissipated because all of the moisture was sucked out of the air and into a sphere around the golduck's raised hands/flippers. "Golduck!" *Aqua crash! * The golduck turned to the side dropping one of her arms so the palm was facing Atlas. The water followed her hand, and released in a huge concentrated blast of water that shot toward Atlas. He jumped to one side as his human friend jumped to the other, the blast missing both of them. The trees in the path of the blast however, were washed away, making the clearing larger. The two friends looked at the sheared stumps. Then at the water duck.
"Marowak, March!" Phillip yelled, "You have to be able to move fast and strike from a distance." Dust shot up as Atlas rapidly marched in place and the bone keeper's speed greatly rose.
"Golduck duck golduck duck duck!" *All that moving around will get you nowhere! * The duck pokémon screamed as she shot out dozens of water guns. But, with his newfound speed, Atlas dodged them all easily. As he ran, he began to spin his bone, in front of him like a propeller. Dust was blown up as he dashed toward his opponent. She, in panic, used bubble, which he ran through with out slowing down.
"Marowak!" *Bone rush! * he cried as charged in and started to pound her with spinning strikes of his bone. After five hits, she managed to get clear of the attack. Unfortunately, by getting this close, there was no way for him to dodge the next attack. The surf attack washed him back to Phillip feet.
"Are you all right?" Phillip asked concerned ready to jump in to help." Come on, we don't have to fight. There is no reason for you to get hurt." These words stirred something deep inside of Atlas and his ultimate power was momentarily awakened. He rose as his the whole of his eyes glowed brown. The earth around him trembled as his power rose. The golduck backed away in fear as Phillip cried "Show her the ground's ultimate power, RAGE CONTINENTAL SPLITER!"
The one of the two shapes stopped moving toward the battle as the earth below it started to shake violently. It was so severe that the ground moved like it was an ocean in a storm instead of solid ground. Trees crashed and sunk into the liquefied land. *I'm going to be siccck! * screamed the light pikachu. The mew just chuckled until some large trees fell on him. *Ouch, * He muttered.
The golduck staggered up and looked at the large flatland surrounding her. The human was kneeling next to the fallen Atlas, getting him to drink something. Suddenly he stood up completely refreshed. She narrowed her eyes. "Gold duck golduck," *We will finish this later. * she spat out. She then dissolved into bubbles that floated away.
At that moment the two stumbled into the small desert. "MEW MEW!?" *WHAT HAPPENED!? * screamed the mew and the pikachu followed with "Pikachu pikachu?" *And who is the new guy? *
{The Present} *Hey wait I remember this. * interrupted Phillip in the future. *This is shortly after we had that meeting about humans. *
*Yes, * Michael replied. *Streams was a bit mad at everyone for deciding to stay with the humans. At the time we were learning more about them, and they us. We were a little more cautious after that disaster at Pokémopolis about the relationship. The decision to stay was made at that meeting. The major factor of that decision was the fact that humans could allow us to use our ultimate attack; which previously we could only do near the Rainbow Focus.*
*As, I was saying.. *
{The Past}
The four figures sat looking at each other from a stand of trees a good distance from the battle ground. The sun is high in the sky, trying to shine trough a haze of fine dust. This and the quiet betrayed the fact that all was not right yet.
"So Atlas, who are you friends?" asked Phillip.
"Marowak, wak marowak mar marowak," "Marowak maro," *Phillip meet Flash and Xeroxes, Guys meet Phillip. * said Atlas.
"Mew" "Pika" *Hi. * The pikachu and the mew said.
"Pika, pikachu pikachu?" *So, what was Streams doing? * Flash said.
"Mew mew mew." *We sensed her power. * Xeroxes stated.
"Um guys, sorry to interrupt, but I can't follow your conversation," said Phillip.
"Much better," replied Phillip.
The mew and pikachu, and the human and the marowak went their separate ways. *So, do you think they will be ok? * asked Xeroxes.
*Long as they stay together, * replied Flash.
*Then let's hurry we have to meet Vision in the Temple of Alph, * said Xeroxes.
"Go, Drowzee!" cried a lavender-haired young woman wearing a cream colored toga with matching sandals. The hypnosis pokémon appeared in front of a small floating pinkish-white pokémon.
sent the mew know as Vision. she transmitted as she quickly fainted the drowzee with a massive psychic attack. She then turned and flew off toward a nearby temple.
"Oh! I could have final gotten that mew'" Yelled the woman as she recaptured her drowzee into it's green friend ball.
"Better luck next time, Kim," said a brown skinned man in a white toga and black hair.
"Silence, Michael. I'm going to follow her and get her yet."
"Sure, I will call the others," responded Michael. "Ebony! "Marius!"
"Coming," replied a quiet voice as two figures approached.
As one group headed toward the temple of Alph, another group arrived. *So where's Vision! * Asked Flash.
*Right here, * came the cheerful response. *Xeroxes, how are you? * She asked.
*Fine sis, where's Shade, we have a job to do, * he replied in a distracted manner. (He didn't even comment on how I was doing.) She thought.
She responded, *She is around here somewhere. *
*If Shade is coming count me out! * Flash said. *I can get Atlas to fill in, * he mumbled.
*Am I that bad? * asked an angry voice. Flash turned around to see a pikachu the color of midnight standing there with her cheeks sparking with black lighting.
*Um, no. Not at all, * he said nervously. With that the group of pokemon started to enter the temple.
The temple was an imposing structure, surrounded by mountains and forest. It had four gates to it, and was filled with pokémon statues of every type and kind. It was used as storehouse for pokémon information and history.
The group of pokémon entered into a gate with a picture of a kabuto on a mural in front of it. As they went in, a pair of eyes followed them. A short time later the group of humans arrived, lead by the woman called Kimberly. She was walking backward talking to the rest when she bumped into someone.
"Excuse me," she said as she turned around to come face to face with a young man about her age. The stranger was dressed in a shimmering red robe that reached to the ground. It had strange arcane markings on it. He had close cut dark pink hair and black eyes. "Zauriel it's you!" cried Kimberly as she hugged him.
"Nice to see you too Kim," he responded. Just then the rest of the group arrived.
{The present}
*I should explain something. * Michael said.
*Each year the four inner holders, light, shadow, creation and destruction, gather together to dispel some of the negative energy of the world. This job used to be done by a particular focus holder, Kain of the Void, a ditto. The Void focus absorbed the evil from our world and sent it to a gathering place, the dark abyss. One day he started to take more than just the negative energy. He tried to absorb all of the power form all of the focuses and all life on this planet. We gather together and using our combined power, sealed his mind and soul in his focus and temporally destroyed his physical body by turning his on ultimate attack back on him. However, We still had to do his job, least the evil spread and corrupted our world. That year, the holder of the creation focus, now know as Lisa crystalline, was currently held up by the recent disaster at Pokémopolis, so Vision volunteered to do her part in the exorcism. That's why there why the four of us where there that day. *
{The past}
The two pikachus and the two mews walked toward the center of the temple, talking to each other in hushed tones. *There it is, the transition point. * Flash said, as the group walked into a large 5 - star shaped room.
* Everyone, let's get started. * Shade said.
Above the temple hundreds of strange symbol shaped pokémon appeared and started to spin in a cylinder. In between them huge bolts of energy shot, rising up into the rolling dark clouds, which also came from nowhere. When the cylinder reached the clouds, a strange crystal tower appeared where the spiraling pokémon where before. It reached up through the clouds. The sign of Babel had returned.
In the in the temple itself, five humans ran trough corridor after corridor the walls humming. Strange glowing symbols seemed to follow there every move from the walls.
"Zauriel, are you sure we should be here?" asked a tall-pale lavender eyed man.
"Marius, I don't think he would lead us into deliberate danger. After all his girlfriend Kimberly is here," said a black-haired brown skinned woman.
"Your right Ebony. I know what I'm doing. I would never place my friends and love ones in danger," replied Zauriel. The group skidded to a halt as they entered the star shaped room as they saw a strange sight.
In the center of the room, a dark purple Mew floated above a darkly glowing circle firing a beam into a glowing portal in the ceiling. On one side of the circle, facing them two pikachu, one black, one white, glanced at them, then focused back on the two chains of light and shadow the were attached to the mew in the center. The last mew had her back to them and was sitting with her eyes closed at the edge of the circle, seemingly doing nothing.
As the humans looked on, the two pikachu pulled the mew out of the circle as a huge surging, swirling sphere came out of the portal, glowing all the colors of the rainbow darkly. It hovered above the ground and tried to reach the now sitting purple mew but hit an invisible wall. *Now, DO IT! * screamed the white pikachu.
At this moment of fate, Zauriel choose to take this chance to rush forward. He knocked the normal colored mew aside as he ran into the empty circle. Eight sets of eyes looked on, four in horror, and four in surprise. A scream rang out, the sound of a thousand cries of grief and loss, Ten thousand death cries, One hundred thousand cries of utter despair, One million cries of pure rage, and the countless cries of every soul in hell. Kimberly and Vision hugged in fear, Marius stood straight up and prepared to fight, with Xeroxes floating next to him. Flash materialized on a stunned Michael's shoulder, and Shade ran in front of grim-faced Ebony. Suddenly the room exploded in light as Kain reentered the world.
In another part of the world, above the center of the Orange Islands three legendary birds and three humans raced through the clouds when the flash hit them. Elsewhere a more common bird sung on the arm of a youth when the flash reached them. In a house the flash took in surprise a wounded golduck and a young woman. In a graveyard, the light enveloped a ghost and mourner. It spread to envelop a lady and her flowery companion who was arguing with a man and his muk. It continued to consume a sleeping dragon and an old man. It went on to take a thief and his companion. It rushed forward to wash over a woman who was staring down a natural fighter. It outran two friends on the ground and caught a two more that were as tough as steel. It took two beings who where rebuilding a city. The last victims of the flash were a pair of children and the normal and bug friends at the base of Mount Moon.
Deep within a mountain of silver a gentle, yet ancient power stirred. And in the crystal palace a power the color of rainbow, waited.
In the temple of Alph, four confused figures stood in front of the levitating figure of Zauriel. "What have you done, Zauriel!" yelled Michael. "See for yourselves," laughed Zauriel "Only, the name is Kain now." A mirror formed out of the ground as Kain's eyes glowed black. In the mirror there was only the reflection of two oddly colored pikachu and two mews. As they looked back up in shock, he raised his arms in the air and started to gather large amounts of energy. He then fired a strange blast at the purple mew, which just happened to be Marius throwing him into the wall. "We are no match for him now, let's get out of here," cried Ebony.
"But why?" asked a confused Kimberly.
Marius looked at her in pain and screamed "GO!" The other three vanished in a flash.
"Marius, what will I do with you?" Kain asked looked down into the mew's pain filled, but defiant eyes.
{The Present}
*Marius got everyone but himself out, * continued Michael.
*So why, didn't you come back? * Asked Evan.
* Simple, after the sudden merger, none of us knew how to use are powers properly. So it was an accident they were teleported out. They ended up in random places. * Answered Drake the dragonite.
*Lisa, Marius you made it! * Said Michael excitedly.
"So what did we miss?" asked Lisa as everyone stared at Marius.
