I don’t own Pokémon. I also don’t own Good Charlotte’s ‘Say Anything’, okay?
They do. And maybe their recording company, I don’t know...
Summary:
After a fight over the phone, Ash calls Misty...
Speech. Thoughts. Lyrics.
“Yeah?!” “Yeah!” “Fine! I never want
to speak to you again, Ash Ketchum!” With that, the teenage girl slammed
the receiver down. For a brief moment, the image of a teenage boy with scruffy
black hair shone on the screen before it went black. “And good riddance!” she growled before stalking away, her short red
ponytail whipping viciously.
Ash
glared at the blank screen and slammed the receiver down. “Man, why does she always gotta get the last word, huh?!” he turned
and asked the small audience that had gathered, and which was now silently
moving away, avoiding the boy’s chocolate brown eyes in embarrassment. “Well, you know Misty...” A tall
brunette with narrow, almost non-existent eyes spoke up. “Yeah Brock, I know, but still... she is SUCH A PAIN!”
A couple of weeks later...
“It’s been a while since you’ve talked to
Misty, hasn’t it Ash...” Brock nodded over to the vid-phone console. Ash
shrugged. “Yeah, so?” Brock sighed.
‘I forgot, subtle hints don’t work on the
dense...’ “Ash, get up and give
Misty a call... you don’t have to apologise...” he added at Ash’s sudden
frown. “After all, neither of you have
bothered doing it before..., but it’s been two weeks, maybe she’s calmed
down...” Ash frowned faded. “Fine, I
guess I’ll call her...”
RING-RING-RING,
RING-RING-RING, PHONE CALL, PHO... “Ugh,
I’ve really gotta figure out a way to get rid of that...” Misty rolled her
blue eyes and sighed as she turned down the radio, picked up the phones
receiver and hit the answer button. “Cerulean
City Gym, Leader Misty spea... oh, it you...” she trailed off as Ash’s face
flashed up on screen.
Here I am on the phone again and...
Awkward silence is on the other end
I used to know the sound of a smile in your voice
But right now (right now) all I feel (all I feel)
is the pain of the fighting starting up again.
All
the things you talk about you know they stay on my mind, on my mind
All the things we laugh about they'll bring us through it every time
after time, after time.
Don't
say a word, I know you feel the same
Just give me a sign, say anything, say anything
Please don't walk away, I know you wanna stay
If you just give me a sign, say anything, say anything.
Some
say that time changes, best friends can become strangers
But I don't want that, no not for you
If you just stay with me we can make it through.
So
here we are again
Same old argument
Now I'm wondering if things'll ever change you
When will you laugh again, laugh like you did back when
We'd make noise til 3:00 A.M.
When the neighbours would complain.
All
the things you talk about you know they stay on my mind, on my mind
All the things we laugh about will bring us through it every time
after time, after time.
Don't
say a word, I know you feel the same
Just give me a sign, say anything, say anything
Please don't walk away, I know you wanna stay
If you just give me a sign, say anything, say anything.
I'm
fallin, I'm fallin, I'm fallin down
I'm fallin, I'm fallin, I'm fallin down
Down...down...down.
Don't
say a word, I know you feel the same
Just give me a sign, say anything, say anything
Please don't walk away, I know you wanna stay
If you just give me a sign, say anything, say anything.
(Please
don't leave)
Don't say a word, I know you feel the same
Just give me a sign, say anything, say anything
(Please don't leave)
Please don't walk away, I know you wanna stay
If you just give me a sign, say anything, say anything...
Ash
stared at Misty’s face on the screen, so many miles away, and wondered how to
say what he felt. The song he could hear over the line sounded close to it...
As he opened his mouth to speak, she held up a finger. “Ash, don’t... just, don’t.” To his relief, she smiled. “What were we arguing about this time anyway?”
Ash shrugged. “I dunno, I forgot...”
Misty rolled her eyes. “Ah, knowing us,
it was probably something stupid...” “Yeah...”
“I gotta go, there’s a challenger...
Say hi to Brock for me.” “Okay, I will.” “Bye, Ash.” “Bye, Mist...”
Brock watched as Ash put the receiver down and stood up. “Is everything okay?” he asked as the younger boy walked over. Ash
nodded. “Yeah, we’re cool. Misty told me to say hi to you for her.”
Okay,
this works because I don’t think that Ash and Misty have ever apologised to
each other, at least on the show. Maybe it’s because they both instinctively
know the other one’s sorry, and didn’t mean whatever was said. Or maybe I just
need to get a life and stop watching so much television... cast your votes now!
Flames will be feed to the nearest angry red-head... to shoot out of her eyes,
duh!

Sorry it’s so short! (Only 896 words... including the top and bottom rambles.)
