Part 1.
“Wow, this is great! Thanks for this, Mrs.
K.!” Misty grinned wildly as she looked around the lodge. “That’s okay, Misty dear.” Delia smiled
as her little adopted family explored and claimed their rooms. And argued of
course. “I call this room!” “Hey, I’m in that one!” “Not anymore, cause I called it first.”
Misty stuck her tongue out at Ash. “Why
don’t you share?” May said, grinning and ready to dodge. Misty stared at
May and shook her head. “You’re sick,
girl. Seriously. I think the cold has gotten to your brain already.” Ash
made a face. “Yeah, it’s tough enough
sharing a camp-site with Misty, why would I wanna share a room with her?”
Everyone paused and glanced at each other. “I’m, not touching THAT one with a twenty-foot barge pole.” Misty
blushed and closed the door. “Hey,
that’s MY room!”
“Ooh, he’s cute.” May giggled. Misty
nodded. “Yeah, if he was a bit hotter,
I’d consider taking a refresher course...” The two girls looked at each
other and giggled. Ash frowned and glared over at the ski-instructor who was
occupying their attention. Brock and Tracey smirked as Delia shook her head
slowly. Even though she wouldn’t admit it, she kinda had to agree with the
girls on this one... “Come along,
otherwise nobody will be skiing today.” She looked each of them over as
they went into the rental shack. ‘Oh,
dear...’ Ash was still fuming and muttering softly to himself as he walked
past her, but quickly forgot all about it when he saw the selection of skis and
gear inside. Soon, everyone was laughing as they looked around before making
their choices. “Okay, I think I’ll try,
the snowboard.” Misty nodded to herself and lifted it off the rack. Ash
looked at it curiously. “How are you
supposed to stay up on that thing, anyway?” Misty smiled. “It’s kinda like, a skateboard, or a
surfboard, just without the wheels or fins, that’s all.” Ash shook his head
in wonderment. “I’ll stick with skis, if
it’s all the same to you.” Misty shrugged. “Suit yourself, Ash.” “Hey,
Misty?” She glanced over at him as she tried the board for size. “Yeah?” “What’s with the blue bag, anyway?” She glanced down at her waist
and smiled. “Oh, that’s something that I
like to call my ski kit. It’s just a bunch of things that might come in handy
if there’s a problem, that’s all.” Ash frowned. “But, how do you know if you’ll need it?” “Better to have and not need, than to need and not have, Ash.”
“Everyone, get ready, bend your knees,
annnnd here it comes.” Soon everybody was on the ski-lift and on their way
up the mountain. On the first chair were Delia and Professor Oak. Just behind
them was Brock and Tracey, who was sketching everything in sight. Brock was
trying to peel the frozen drool off his chin after seeing some girls zip by
below. On the chair behind them, Misty shook her head hopelessly, and tried to
help Ash remove his tongue from where it had frozen to the chair-lift. “Idiot.” “Duptdupt, Bifsy.” ( that’s ‘Shut up, Misty’, in case you didn’t
know.). May and Max giggled in the chair behind them as Ash groaned when Misty
grabbed his ear. “What was that, Ash
Ketchum?!” “Dodhing!”
(‘Nothing!’). “Owww!” “There, next time, I’m leaving you here.”
“Danks, Bifsy.” (‘Thanks, Misty.’).
“Idiot.”
“Prepare for trouble, its sub-zero!” “Make it double, we’re no heroes!” “That doesn’t even rhyme!” Misty shouted
as Team Rockets balloon descended. “Shut
up, twerpette!” “Yeah, do you have
any idea how hard it is to make a balloon fly in this weather!” James
grimaced. “Yeah, why couldn’t you twerps
go somewhere warm for your vacation.” Meowth groaned from under several
layers of blankets. Misty grinned. “Well,
we can’t always make it easy for you, now can we?” Jessie’s head enlarged
comically as she screamed back at them. “Shut
up! Now hand over Pikachu, and... hey, where’s Pikachu?!” Misty shrugged. “He decided he’d rather be fed his own
weight in marshmallows by some ski bunnies back at the lodge.” “Don’t remind me.” Brock groaned, wiping
a tear away. “Those were MY ski bunnies!”
he shouted as everyone sweat-dropped.
“Anyway...” Misty continued, rolling her
eyes at Brock. “He’s not here, so go
away please.” She stretched up and snapped a small icicle of the top of the
chair, reached back and threw it at the balloon, piecing it’s thin skin. “Whaaaaaaa!” The trio of losers screamed
as the balloon started to zip about wildly. Suddenly, it veered around and
slammed into the chair-lift, knocking Ash and Misty’s chair loose before
finally shooting away and slamming into the top of the mountain. “Looks like Team Rock...!” Their scream
was cut off. The chair fell, spiralling, with Ash and Misty clinging on to it
for dear life whilst their friends and family screamed from above.
“Oooff!” Misty grunted as she landed in
a deep snowdrift and lay dazed for a moment before finally standing up looking
about for Ash. Hearing a noise, she looked up and saw her friends, waving and
pointing desperately towards the summit. ‘Are
they saying they’ll see me there...?’ Looking towards the peak, looming
above her, Misty’s confusion turned to horror as she saw and recognised the
wall of white death speeding towards her. ‘Oh,
no...’ Whirling around, she spotted a large rock with an overhang off to
her right. Picking up the unconscious Ash around the waist, she crunched her
way towards the rock through the deep snow, only now noticing pain shooting up
her left leg with every step. Above, her friends could only watch in horror as
the chair-lift moved on, blocking their view of the scene below as the
avalanche swept over the spot where the two teens had landed.
To
be continued...
Oooh,
cliff-hanger! Part two, will Ash and Misty be alright? They’ve survived the
avalanche, but can they survive being buried alive? We also find out just how
prepared Misty can be... stay tuned!
