Chapter 3: The Journey Begins

A few weeks have passed since Steve Mofaun, Cody Aldridge, Mason Barr, Tony Garrett, and Stacy Sanderson had dropped out of school. Steve, Cody, Mason, and Tony would be going on their Pokemon Journey together. Stacy would just be tagging along.

The gang had all aced their Pokemon exam and had received their Pokemon License. Stacy only had to get her Pokemon License ‘cause she’d be handling Pokemon. The rest of them had to get it because they’d need it so they could participate in Pokemon Battling, as well as handle Pokemon.

They’d all purchased a Pokemon Belt to hold their Pokeballs with their Pokemon in them. Except for Stacy, of coarse.

They were nearing their Pokemon Journey. It was the 1st day they couldn’t sleep in late in a month. It is 7:00 A.M. And Steve is just waking up…

 

“Honey, time to get up. You’re gonna be late getting your 1st Pokemon!” Mrs. Mofaun called to her son.

“I’m already up, mom! I’m just about ready!” Steve replied.

“Oh, ok!” Mrs. Mofaun replied.

All Steve had to do was finish up packing up his backpack and slip on his Running Shoes and he’d be off to Prof. Oak’s to get his very 1st Pokemon: Dratini. He already had all of his Potions, Antidotes, and Burn heals, and 2 of his Ice Heals in his backpack. He put his Ice Heals in his pack. He then glanced around for his Escape Rope. But he didn’t see any hint of it. “Oh crap! Where the hell did I put my Escape Rope?! I can’t leave w/o it!!” Steve quivered. He looked over for his Escape Rope in his room, but just could not find it. “Mom, have you seen my Escape Rope anywhere???” Steve called down to his mom.

“You left it on the couch, Honey.” Mrs. Mofaun replied.

“Oh, thinks Mom!” Steve thanked. He slipped on his Running Shoes and ran down the stairs. He grabbed his Escape Rope and stuffed it in his backpack. He then slung his pack over his shoulder.

He was about to go out the door, when his mom stopped him. “Not so fast, Young Man! You are gonna eat breakfast before you go! Do you understand?!” Mrs. Mofaun scolded.

“Oh, alright, Mom. I’ll eat. But then I’m gone!” Steve replied.

 

After he’d eaten, he quickly slung his backpack over his shoulder and dashed out the door at full speed. He grabbed his bike and started pedaling at full speed to Prof. Oak’s lab.

By the time he made it, his friends had already gotten there. “Hey, Tony! I never asked you what Pokemon you’re gonna start with! So, which 1 are ya gonna start out with???” Steve asked.

“I’m gonna start with Nidoran♂!” Tony replied.

“Cool.” Steve replied.

“Tony Garrett, I have your Pokemon ready.” Prof. Oak called out.

“I’m comin’, Prof.!” Tony called back.

Once he got up to Prof. Oak, Prof. Oak handed Tony a Pokeball with a purple ♂ on it. “It contains a Nidoran♂. Its current attacks are Leer, Peck, Tackle, and Mud Slap. It will learn Counter when it evolves once, and Body Slam when it evolves twice. Its evolved forms are Nidorino and Nidoking.” Prof. Oak explained. He then picked up a red Pokedex that looked like a book of some sort w/ a blue, pretty good-sized light at the upper-left corner. “This is your Pokedex. Your Trainer profile has been uploaded onto its hard drive. Carry this w/ you at all times!” Prof. Oak explained. “You may go now. Good luck on your Pokemon Journey, Tony!” Tony then stuffed his Pokedex in his pocket and went back to the entrance to wait for his friends.

 

“Steven Mofaun, I have your Pokemon ready.” Prof. Oak called out.

“I’m coming!” Steve called back.

Once he got up there, Prof. Oak handed him a Pokeball with a lavender dragon’s head emblem on it. “This contains a Dratini. Its current attacks are Wrap, Leer, and Endure. It will learn Ice Beam when it evolves once, and Thunderbolt when it evolves twice. Its evolved forms are Dragonair and Dragonite.” Prof. Oak explained. He then handed Steve a Pokedex. “This is your Pokedex. Your Trainer profile has been uploaded onto its hard drive. Carry this w/ you at all times!” Prof. Oak explained. “You may go now. Good luck on your Pokemon Journey, Steve!” Steve then put his Pokedex in his pocket and went back to the entrance w/ Tony to wait for his other friends.

 

“Mason Barr, I have your Pokemon ready.” Prof. Oak called out.

“Don’t worry, I’m coming, Prof.!” Mason called back.

Once he got up there, Prof. Oak handed him a Pokeball with a black spiral emblem on it. “This contains a Poliwag. Its current attacks are Bubble, Hypnosis, Water Gun, and Icy Wind. It will learn Body Slam when it evolves once, Ice beam if it evolves into a Poliwrath when it evolves a second time, and Mimic if it evolves into a Politoad when it evolves a second time. Its evolved forms are Poliwhirl and either Poliwrath, if you use a Water Stone on it, or Politoad, if you use a King’s Rock on it.” Prof. Oak explained. He then handed him a Pokedex. “This is your Pokedex. Your Trainer profile has been uploaded onto its hard drive. Carry this w/ you at all times!” Prof. Oak explained. “You may go now. Good luck on your Pokemon Journey, Mason. Mason then stuffed his Pokedex in his back pocket and went to the entrance w/ Tony and Steve to wait for Cody.

 

“Cody Aldridge, I have your Pokemon ready.” Prof. Oak called out. No answer. “Cody???” Prof. Oak called.

“What? Oh, I’m comin’!” Cody called back after suddenly waking up and dashing to Prof. Oak.

Once he got up there Prof. Oak handed him a Pokeball w/ an orange circle w/ black zigzag jagged stripes on it. “This contains a Growlithe. Its current attacks are Bite, Roar, Ember, and Flamethrower. It will learn Double-Edge when it evolves. Its evolved form is Arcanine. You must use a Fire Stone on it in order to evolve it.” Prof. Oak explained. He then handed Cody a Pokedex. “This is your Pokedex. Your Trainer profile has been uploaded onto its hard drive. Carry this w/ you at all times!” Prof. Oak explained. “You may go now. Good luck on your Pokemon Journey, Cody!” Cody then stuffed his Pokedex in his pocket and went to join his other friends at the entrance.

 

Once outside, they decided to enter their Pokemon in their Pokedexes. “I’ll go 1st!” Tony replied. He then threw the Pokeball into the air. Soon after, a small, pink, horned Pokemon appeared.

Steve and co. all took out their Pokedex. “Nidoran♂, a Poison Pin Pokemon of the Poison variety. The male Nidoran has developed muscles for moving its ears. Thanks to them, the ears can be freely moved in any direction. Even the slightest sound does not escape this Pokemon’s notice. It extends its toxic spikes when angry.” the Pokedexes said.

“I’ll go next!” Steve piped up. He then threw his Pokeball. Soon after, a long, snake-like, lavender creature with a gray white belly and nose, and 2 ear-like attachments on its head appeared.

“Dratini, a Dragon Pokemon of the Dragon and Spirit variety. Dratini continually molts and sloughs off its own skin. It does so because the life energy within its body steadily builds to reach uncontrollable levels. This Pokemon was long considered a myth until a small colony was found living under the ocean.” the Pokedexes said.

“Awesome!” Steve shouted.

“Now I’ll go!!!” Mason shouted out. He threw his Pokeball into the air. Soon after, a small, round, purple creature w/ a white belly w/ a black spiral shape on it, no arms, and a tadpole-like tail appeared.

“Poliwag, a Tadpole Pokemon of the Water variety. Poliwag has a very thin skin. It is possible to see this Pokemon’s spiral innards right through the skin. Despite its thinness, however, the skin is also very flexible. Even sharp fangs bounce off it. Its newly developed legs prevent it from running. It appears to prefer swimming over trying to stand.” the Pokedexes said.

“Now its my turn!” Cody called out. He opened his Pokeball. Soon after, a small, orange, puppy-like Fire Pokemon with jagged, black stripes on its back appeared.

“Growlithe, a Puppy Pokemon of the Fire variety. Growlithe has a superb sense of smell. Once it smells anything, this Pokemon won’t forget the scent, no matter what. It uses its advanced olfactory sense to determine the emotions of other living things. It is very protective of its territory. It will bark and bite to repel intruders.” the Pokedexes said. The gang then put away their Pokedexes.

A girl with aqua blue hair and emerald green eyes came running up to Steve and co. just as they had recalled their Pokemon. “Hey guys, what’s up?!” she said happily w/ a smile on her face.

“Not much.” the gang replied.

“So, you’re really comin’ w/ us, huh?” Steve asked.

“Yeah, silly! Why would I lie to you?!” Stacy giggled.

The gang then started heading towards town. They decided to stop by their houses and say good-bye. They would meet each other at the entrance to Route 1. Once they all got there, they started heading for the next town.

A/N: So what’d ya think??? I decided to go ahead and get this finished instead of taking my time for the next couple of days. Well, I won’t be updating this story for a while. I’ve also got a Zelda fic coming along. Well, c ya!!!
