Chapter 6: What’s Gary Doin’ Here….And who’s the Girl?!!

Misty quickly left the mall, Pokemon in hand. She couldn’t wait to see the look on Ash’s face when she gave him the Growlithe. He’d always wanted 1. And plus, it was in a Master Ball. Now that was a present! At least, she thought so.

She had always liked Ash ever since they’d met. She’d had a ton of opportunities to confess to Ash her true feelings while on their Journey. But she hadn’t worked up the courage to tell him that she loved him more than just a friend. She’d lost her nerve every time. Every damn time! And she kicked herself in the side for that.

But she knew that this time she’d tell him how she felt. And she’d give him this gift to show that she really liked him more than just a friend.

She also had her doubts about it, too. He might not love her in the same way. And that would break her heart. But, she had to do this. So she would know if he loved her more than a friend or not.

Ash made his way to Town Square. There, he saw Misty and Brock. He was about to rush to be with his 2 best friends in the world, when he heard a voice behind him. “Ashy-boy, is that u???” it said in a surprised tone.

“Gary??!” Ash turned around to see Gary standing there with a wide grin on his face. There was also a beautiful, young girl who looked their same age standing next to him. She had short, spiky, jet black hair with hints of blue in it. She was wearing a skin tight, black, neon red, metallic blue, emerald green, and hot pink tie-dye T-shirt, a pair of dark blue jeans, and a pair of navy blue biker gloves. She had sparkling, emerald eyes that seemed to light up her whole face. Ash was practically drooling over her.

“Back off, Ash. She’s mine! Everyone, I’d like ya to meet my gf, Aurora Sentina!” Gary grinned widely.

“Hi everyone! Nice to meet ya!” Aurora said.

“Nice to m-meet you t-t-too, A-Aurora.” Ash stammered.

“Oh, it’s so nice to meet you, Aurora.” Misty said sarcastically.

“Nice to meet you! U look beautiful, Aurora!!” Brock said, who was also drooling over Aurora as well. Now u don’t see that very often with Brock going ga-ga over a girl younger than him.

“Well, me and Gary were just making our way back to Pallet Town when we stumbled onto this beautiful city!” Aurora stated.

“Hey, us too!” Ash and Misty said in unison.

“Well, while we’re here Ash, how about a Pokemon Battle? What do ya say?!” Gary challenged.

“You’re on, Gary!” Ash accepted.

“OK, we’ll battle in the desert just south of here!”

“Kay, Gary.” Ash replied. Ash, Gary, Aurora, Misty, & Brock made their way south to the desert just about a mile from Celio City. Ash and Gary stood about 3-4 feet across from each other, facing each other. They each readied a Pokeball.

“Ya ready, Ash?!” Gary asked eagerly.

“You bet!!!” Ash replied, anxious to battle Gary once again.

“Ok, Umbreon go!!!!!” Gary cried out as he threw the Pokeball into the air. Soon after, a pitch black, fox-like Pokemon with golden rings marking its body appeared.

“Swellow, I choose you!!!” Ash threw the Pokeball into the air. Soon after, a midnight blue, fairly good sized bird Pokemon with reddish wings and a white belly appeared.

“Nice choice, Ash.” Gary laughed.

“Very funny, Gary!” Ash scowled.

“Thank you!” Gary said sarcastically.

“Ok, let’s do this! Swellow, Tackle attack!!!” Ash commanded. Swellow started to fly towards Umbreon at high speed.

“Dodge it, Umbreon! Then use your Tackle attack!!” Gary commanded. Right when Swellow was about to hit Umbreon, Umbreon leapt out of the way, then started to charge at Swellow. Once it was close enough, it leapt at Swellow, landing a direct hit. Swellow hit the ground with a thud.

“Aurgh, Swellow use your Wing Attack!!!” Ash screamed. Swellow got up and started to fly up into the air. Umbreon just stood there, staring up at Swellow, who was climbing higher and higher. Once high enough, Swellow turned to face Umbreon, and started to dive bomb Umbreon. About 2 seconds later, its wings started to glow white. Swellow struck Umbreon, sending Umbreon flying back towards Gary. Umbreon slammed into Gary, sending him flying backwards along with Umbreon, landing with a loud thud. Umbreon quickly got back on its feet. “Ok Swellow, finish it with Sky Attack!!!” Ash screamed. Swellow turned toward Umbreon, and started to glow.

“Gosh dammit, Ash! Umbreon, Crunch attack!!!!” Gary cried out. Umbreon started dashing towards Swellow, glowing with an eerie glow. Swellow shot at Umbreon like a bullet. Umbreon leapt at Swellow.

“Swellow, use Agility to get behind Umbreon, then continue your Sky Attack!!” Ash commanded. Swellow started to teleport short distances every couple of seconds. Once behind Umbreon, Swellow landed a devastating blow to it, knocking it out.

“UMBREON!!!!” Gary screamed.

“Umbreon is unable to battle. Swellow is the winner!” Brock announced.

“Sweat finish, Swellow!” Ash called out as he recalled Swellow.

“You’ve gotten a lot better since the last time we battled, Ash!” Gary said.

“Thanks, Gary!” Ash replied.

“Alright, Tropius go!!!!” Gary cried. Soon after, a large dino-like grass Pokemon with large fern leaves for wings and bananas hanging from its neck appeared.

“Go, Sceptile!!” Ash called. Soon after, a large grass Pokemon w/ a fern for a tail, yellow seeds on its back, and a lizard-like snout appeared.

“Ok, Tropius, start off with Magical Leaf!!!” Gary commanded. Tropius’s leafs started to glow multicolor. Then a storm of glowing leaves shot from them, striking Sceptile. But Sceptile was barely scathed.

“Ok, Bullet Seed!!!!” Ash commanded. Sceptile opened its mouth and started firing orange, glowing seeds like a machinegun. Tropius tried to dodge, but it couldn’t escape Sceptile’s Bullet Seed attack. It did some pretty heavy damage.

“Don’t think it’s over, Ash!” Gary stated coldly.

“Whatever u say, Gary!” Ash laughed.

“Aurgh, Tropius, Fly attack!!!!!!!” Gary cried. Tropius’s wings started to flap, and Tropius slowly started to go upward.

“Sceptile, now! While it’s rising! Hit it with your strongest Hyper Beam!!!!” Ash cried. Sceptile opened its mouth and started to charge a multicolored glowing ball of light. Soon after, it fired it in the form of an energy wave. The beam hit and Tropius fell to the ground. It’d been knocked out.

“Tropius is unable to battle. Sceptile is the winner!” Brock announced.

“Tropius return!” Gary called angrily as he recalled his fainted Tropius. Ash did the same with Sceptile.

“Crawdaunt, I choose you!!!” Ash called as he tossed his Pokeball. Soon after, a large, red, lobster-like Pokemon with a yellow star on its forehead appeared.

“Scizor, go!!!” Gary cried. Soon after, a large, red, metallic bug/steel type Pokemon with a pincer on each arm, each with eye spots, appeared.

“Ok Crawdaunt, use Bubblebeam!!!” Ash commanded. Crawdaunt aimed 1 of its huge pincers at Scizor. It then opened its pincer and started firing a jet of glowing, white, bubble-like projectiles at Scizor.

“Scizor, dodge the Bubblebeam and use Metal Claw!!!” Gary commanded. Right before the attack connected with Scizor, Scizor got out of the way. Its pincers then started to glow white. It started to charge Crawdaunt.

“Crawdaunt, now’s your chance! Use another Bubblebeam attack!!!” Ash commanded. Crawdaunt prepared for another Bubblebeam. But before it could launch the attack, Scizor got up to Crawdaunt and whacked him with its pincers, sending Crawdaunt flying. Scizor’s pincers stopped glowing. “Now you’re in for it, Gary! Crawdaunt, Crabhammer attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Ash cried angrily. 1 of Crawdaunt’s pincers started to glow white. It leapt at Scizor and landed a devastating blow to the head, knocking it out.

“Scizor is unable to battle. Crawdaunt wins!” Brock announced.

“Darn you, Ash! I haven’t beaten any of your Pokemon!! That’s it!! Arcanine, go! Give it everything you’ve got!!!” Gary yelled angrily. Soon after, a large, orange, black striped, dog-like fire Pokemon with a cream colored belly appeared.

“I think I’ll stick with Crawdaunt!” Ash proclaimed.

“Arcanine, start off with a Take Down attack!” Gary commanded. Arcanine started to charge Crawdaunt. It soon started to glow a reddish glow.

“Crawdaunt, dodge it! Then use Guillotine!!!” Ash screamed. Right before Arcanine hit, Crawdaunt got out of the way. It then aimed 1 of its pincers at Arcanine. It started to charge a yellow ball of energy.

“Arcanine, Fire Blast it while its charging up its attack!!!” Gary commanded. Arcanine shot a large, human-shaped flame at Crawdaunt. But before it hit, Crawdaunt jumped out of the way. It then shot a large, yellow beam at Arcanine.

“Arcanine, dodge it!!! Then use your Flamethrower attack!!!!” Gary commanded. But before Arcanine could dodge it, the Guillotine attack landed a direct hit on Arcanine, resulting in a 1-hit KO.

“Arcanine is no longer able to battle. Crawdaunt is the winner!” Brock announced.

“You are SO DEAD Ash!!!” Gary yelled angrily as he recalled Arcanine.

“Whatever. Crawdaunt return! Torkoal, I choose you!!!” Ash called out as he tossed his Pokeball. Soon after, a small, brown, tortoise-like fire Pokemon with coal burning in its gray shell appeared.

“I CHOOSE YOU, BLASTOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Gary cried. Soon after, a large, armored, purple, turtle-like Pokemon with 2 high pressure water cannons on its back appeared.

“Torkoal, start off with Overheat!!!” Ash commanded. Torkoal started to glow red. It then sent a barrier of fire outward. It did some pretty good damage to Blastoise for a fire attack.

“Blastoise, Hydro Pump!!!!!” Gary screamed. Blastoise readied its water cannons and shot a very powerful jet of water from each cannon at Torkoal, knocking it out.

“Yes, we finally defeated 1 of Ash’s Pokemon!!!” Gary cried out joyfully.

“Torkoal is unable to battle. Blastoise wins!” Brock announced.

“It’s not over yet, Gary! Charizard, I choose you!!!” Ash cried. Soon after, a large, dragon-like fire Pokemon with a large flame on the tip of its tail appeared.

“Blastoise, Return! Go, Metagross!!!” Gary yelled. Soon after, a strange looking, blue steel/psychic type Pokemon with an ‘x’ made of iron on its forehead appeared. “Start off with a Psywave attack, Metagross!!!” Gary commanded. Metagross started to glow. It then shot a very thin, multicolored beam of psychic energy at Charizard.

“Charizard dodge it and use Flamethrower!!!!” Ash commanded. Charizard got out of the way of the Psywave. It then shot a jet of red and yellow flame at Metagross, doing some pretty heavy damage.

“Metagross, try a Psybeam attack!!!” Gary called out. Metagross started to launch a series of blue, psychic rings at Charizard.

“Charizard, dodge it! Then finish it off with another Flamethrower attack!!” Ash commanded. Charizard once again got out of the way and shot a jet of flame at Metagross, knocking it out.

“Metagross is unable to battle. Charizard is the winner!” Brock announced.

“Blastoise, go!!!!!!!” Gary cried.

“Ya ready, buddy?” Ash whispered to Pikachu, who was currently on his shoulder.

“Pika, Pika (You bet)!” Pikachu replied. Author’s note: I’m gonna put what the Pokemon says and not the Pokemon language from now on.

“Charizard, return. Pikachu, I choose you!!!!!” Ash cried as Pikachu leapt to the battle field.

‘Oh shit!’ Gary thought.

“Pikachu, THUNDER ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Ash cried. Pikachu shot a humongous bolt of electricity at Blastoise, knocking it out instantly.

“Blastoise is no longer able to battle. PIKACHU WINS!!! Trainer Ash Ketchum wins the match!!” Brock announced excitedly.

“Yes, we did it Pikachu!!!” Ash said happily as he ran up and picked up his Pika-pal.

“Hey Ash, you did great. How about we get a couple of rooms at the inn and then u and I have a duel! You did bring your Yu-Gi-Oh deck, didn’t u???” Gary asked.

“Yeah, I did.”

“Awesome, so do ya accept my challenge???” Gary asked anxiously.

“Yea!” Ash accepted.

“Great! So let’s all head up to the inn. It’s called the Crystal Inn.” Gary said. Then, they all started for the hotel.
