Part I Hello to everybody again, I hope you liked the prologue, I have gotten pretty good reviews. I also forgot Pikachu in the prologue, sorry about that. Here are some notes for the chapter. And also I don't own Pokemon or any of its characters (except Jeff). I would also like to thank Anonymous 2003 for inspiring me to work harder on this Fanfic. Notes: Twelve Years have passed since the fight between Ash and Misty. The story is in third person from here on, until I say it changes. When Pokemon talks, what it is saying will be in brackets. [ ] Characters thoughts are in asterisks. * * Ages: Ash-25 Misty-26 Brock-29 (Brock isn't in this chapter, but he will appear in later chapters.) And with that, on with the story. Ash sat there in his gym, in Pallet Town, just taking a break from the world. Ash had become the Grand Pokemon Master, in the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn League and had his own gym now. He didn't want any job higher than a Gym Leader, because it would be too stressful to be that busy. There would be tons of Paparazzi, numerous interviews, and he couldn't take it with the memory of that terrible day still lingering over him. It had been twelve years since Misty and he had the fight. It was just the right position for him. Ash then heard a call from the entrance of the gym leading into the arena. *It must be another challenger* Ash thought. Ash sighed and picked up a Thunder badge from a container next to him. It seemed he wasn't into battling as much since the day of their fight. But every once in a while he got into it. He stepped out into the arena and saw the challenger. When challenger saw Ash, he said "My name is Jeff, from Little Root Town, and I challenge you to a battle for a Thunder badge." "Alright!" Said Ash with confidence, though not as much confidence since….that day. "Step up to the arena." When they were in their positions, Ash said "Alright this will be a 2 on 2 battle, no time limit. Being myself, as the Gym Leader, I will choose first." Ash held out a Poke'ball and threw it. "Go Jolteon!" Jolteon appeared in a flash of light. "Jolt!!! [Lets go!]" it said with optimism. Then Jeff pulled out his Poke'ball and tossed it. "Go Kadabra!" "Kadab Kadabra! [I can take anybody on!]" When Kadabra appeared, the battle began. The battle started with the first command by Ash. "Go Jolteon! Use Agility!" "Jolt Jolteon [Consider it done!!]" Jolteon called out exactly when it started to speed up. Jeff, then yelled out, "Kadabra! Use Psychic!" But Jolteon dodged the attack easily from its Agility. Ash then yelled out "Jolteon, use Headbutt!" Jolteon obeyed and ran with its head right into Kadabra. Kadabra fell right back into one of the walls. It looked like it was defeated, but Jeff called out, "Kadabra! Use Recover!" Kadabra started to glow, and as soon as it used the Recover, it was back up on its feet. *Wow* Ash thought, *That was a quick Recover.* "Now, Kadabra, use Confusion." Kadabra's eyes started to glow. But, before the confusion got Jolteon, Ash yelled "Jolteon, use Quick Attack!" Jolteon dodged the attack and slammed right into Kadabra. Kadabra fell back, and before Jeff ordered it to use Recover, Ash yelled "Now Jolteon, use Thunderbolt!!!!" Jolteon, released a powerful Thunderbolt, and it was a direct hit. After the Thunderbolt, Kadabra had fainted. Jeff recalled Kadabra and said "Good Job, Kadabra. You deserve a good rest." (Over at Ash) Jolteon ran over to Ash, and Ash congratulated it, and returned it to its Pokeball. "Good Job, Jolteon." Now they were both ready for the second and final round. Ash faced Jeff and pointed out a finger. "Are you ready for my most powerful Pokemon?!" "Bring it on!" Said Jeff. "Pikachu, come on out!" Pikachu dashed out onto the arena from the shadows. "Pi Pikachu [I will take on any of your Pokemon!]" it said. Jeff pulled out a Poke'ball, and threw it. "Go, Dragonite!" Dragonite appeared out of its Poke'ball, and cried a roar. Then the round began. "Go, Pikachu! Use Quick Attack!" Pikachu started to speed up. "Dragonite! Fly up in the air." Pikachu's attack missed. "Now Dragonite, use Dragon Rage!" Dragonite opened its mouth, charged, and fired a powerful blue beam at Pikachu. "Pikachu! Dodge it!" Pikachu successfully dodged it. "Now Pikachu! Use Thunder!" Pikachu let out this magnificent attack and scored a direct hit. Dragonite fainted, and the Battle was over. "Good Job, Dragonite. Take a nice long rest." (Over at Ash) "You did a great job, Pikachu." Pikachu jumped in Ash's arms, giving Ash a hug. "Pi Pikachu!" [Thank you!] Then Ash noticed Jeff coming toward him, looking at Ash and Pikachu in a caring expression. "You have a strong bond with your Pokemon." Jeff said, "No wonder you won." Then Ash said, "You were pretty good yourself. If you just train a little bit more, and understand your Pokemon's feelings better, you will do a lot better in battle. You already have a strong bond with your Pokemon, but not strong enough to where you can understand each others feelings in battle. I have been with Pikachu, since I became a Pokemon trainer, and we have developed a strong bond together, a bond so strong that nothing can break it. A bond so strong that we can understand each others feelings. When we are sad we can talk it over and comfort each other. Or even when we are happy, we can have a good laugh together. That's what being a Pokemon Trainer is all about. Developing, a strong bond with your Pokemon." Then Jeff said, "Yes…Yes you are right. Thank you Ash." Ash then could see, the inspiration he had put in the young trainers eyes. *Now there's a happy kid.* Ash thought. Ash and Jeff, said their goodbye's, and Jeff left. Ash, then had a new feeling in him. A feeling of happiness. He hadn't seen, anybody this happy in a long time. Not since….that day. When the memory came back to him, all feelings of happiness were lost. He then stood there….. looking sad. Pikachu notice the distraught look on his trainers face. "Pika Pi chu [What's wrong Ash?"] "Its nothing," Ash said trying to smile. Pika pikachu pika pi…..Pikachu chu [Come on I know when something's bothering you….you can tell me."] "Ok, you've caught me buddy," Ash said with a little chuckle. But that chuckle was soon returned to a frown when he started to tell Pikachu his problem. "It's just that….every time I win a battle….or even loose a battle, I remember back 12 years ago, when Misty and I had that fight, and how she's not here to cheer on during the battles…..Then the victory means nothing to me." Pikachu was saddened, at his distraught trainer, and wanted to help him any way possible. "Pi pikachu pika pi chu, pika pikachu….Pika Pikcachu Pi [If there is anything, I can do please don't forget, I'm always here….You can talk to me about anything.] "Thanks buddy", Ash said kneeling down so Pikachu could jump in his arms. When they were finished talking, they both went through the door from which they came to battle with Jeff, and went out another rear door to check the mail. Ash then started to go through the mail. "Junk, Junk, Junk, Electric bill for the gym, Junk, a letter from…..Oh my Gosh, this is a letter from………………." Hah, hah, cliff hanger. Do you know who the letter is from. I bet you can guess already. I mean it is pretty obvious. For those of you who don't know who it is, you will just have to wait till next time. And also this is my first battle scene I would, really appreciate, if you could review about this.
