I woke up, got dressed ,and went straight to the gym.Brendon was already there, talking to a kid in the waiting room. He said Darryl had just left when he got there. He had lost against Bugsy because he hadn't stopped to train as we had. Therefore, if we could beat Bugsy on our first trys, we would pass Darryl, who had been ahead of  us to this point. It was my turn now. I stepped right in front of Bugsy, unafraid of the bug pokemon staring from every corner, every tree. I calmly challenged him to a match. He being a gym leader, had  to accept, which he did gladly."This is a gym battle between our leader Bugsy ,and the challenger Amy Gray!"boomed the announcer. "The hive badge is at stake!" Bugsy let me choose first, which I did."Go ,onix!" "bad choice Amy, Go, kakuna!" "Onix, rock slide attack!" I shouted. It was a one hit KO which shocked Bugsy. "I guess onix's level was higher than you thought huh?" "Well this one be so easy!"Bugsy said."Go, scyther!, fury cutter attack!" Onix was severly weakened. I returned onix then sent out butterfree and ordered it to use sleep powder, which put scyther to sleep. Then I switched to quilava and told it to use ember. It weakened scyther, but didn't knock it out. I kinda figured as much, but I hadn't considered scyther waking up, which it did. Bugsy told it to use focus energy, which would mean if I didn't kill scyther with my next attack, scyther's fury cutter attack
would knock out quilava. I knew scyther couldn't be knocked out in one attack, so I tried thinking of something I could do. I finally remembered something that I had told Brendon in union cave. It's easiest to catch a pokemon if they are asleep or paralzyed, but remember that it's harder to hit something you can't see. SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN'T SEE! "That's it! Quilava, smokescreen attack! A shroud of smoke surrounded quilava."Ha!Your scyther can't hit something it can't see!"
Scyther attack where you think it is, fury cutter attack! Scyther missed and the smokescreen remained there." Quilava attack with ember than retreat into the smokescreen, Now!" Quilava came out of the smokescreen at the opposite end of where scyther attacked ,and released another burning
ember attack and took scyther to his knees ,but when quilava turned to head into the smokescreen,
it was gone. "No place to hide now, quilava! Scyther, fury cutter attack! Quilava was still standing
but obviously hurt by the slash mark in his back. Scyther however had again dropped to his knees.
"Quilava, think you can attack one more time?" Quilava nodded. "Ok then, tackle it!" "Scyther is unable to continue!" boomed the annoucer. "Ok... go metapod!" "Return quilava! Go butterfree!"
"Metapod ,tackle it!"All the attack did was shake butterfree up."Your turn butterfree! tackle!"
"Metapod is unable to continue!" "Return butterfree!" "Amy wins the match!" I dropped to my knees and sighed. Bugsy came over to me. "You are the toughest opponent I've ever faced. Here is your hive badge." "Thanks." I sent Quilava out and gave it some potion."Come on, let's go to the pokemon center." We emerged into the waiting room. Brendon saw Quilava's scar, and his face fell. I showed him the hive badge I had gotten, and we both grinned. "I need to get quilava to the pokemon center. Meet me there after you win."

"Your quilava got beaten up badly." I nodded knowing what she meant. The nurse said."But your quilava is healed and ready to go.", and she brought out quilava."feeling better?"I asked. She nodded but said that she was very hungry. "Well let's wait for Brendon and than we can blow the money I got for beating Bugsy. She said that sounded good to her. A few minutes later Brendon and croconaw came in, looking much the same condition we did, but he too had gotten his badge.
Later that night we were at the local McDonphans {much the same as our McDonalds}then we went outside. Outside, we met two trainers who wanted to battle, not just any battle, but a team battle. We accepted, liking the new challenge. We had a coin toss and they lost, so they had to choose their pokemon first, and they chose a ivysaur and a charmelon. We chose quilava and croconaw, DUH. I tried out my new strategy, because if it worked on Bugsy, why not on your run - of - the - mill trainer? "Quilava, blanket the field around you and croconaw in smokescreen!"  Brendon caught on quickly, I'll give him that. "Croconaw use water gun on charmeleon, than retreat back under cover!" "Tackle croconaw when it appears!" Ivysaur's trainer ordered it. The tackle and the water gun both connected, charmeleon was weakened badly, while croconaw was sent spinning, back under the smokescreen! Before either pokemon had gotten over the recoil, quilava emerged and sent ivysaur flying with a tackle and then ued ember before I could tell it to, which I was going to order it to do. Then we attacked with a double attack, quilava used tackle on ivysaur,  and croconaw used scratch on charmeleon, making them both faint. So we won.They ran off to the pokemon center, and we entered the Ilix forest.

We caught more pokemon and battled many trainers in and on the other side of the Ilex forest. On the last trainer, after I beat him, my quilava evolved into a huge and powerful typhosion. I was very happy that that happened but typhosion was a mouthful, and she agreed so we decided to give her a nickname, Blaze. Brendon and croconaw thought that croconaw was also a mouthful, and feraligatr would be even worse so croconaw got a nickname too, Surf. We went through town and healed Blaze and Surf at the pokemon center, because they were very weak from battling all those trainers. Then we looked around Goldenrod city. We found a radio tower, in which there was a quiz I got it all right, and won a pokegear. Brendon did too. Then I took another quiz, won that and got a radio card. Brendon took it too but got one question wrong. But then he took it again, and got a radio card like me. We left. Then Brendon spotted a bike shop. We went in, and purchased bikes. Then we went to that odd - looking building south of the city.
 Darryl was there picking up his butterfree. He saw us, then came over. "Dropping off something at the daycare?" he asked us. "Daycare?" "Yeah those old folks in there will raise one or two of your pokemon, for a small fee of course."  "neat" and we rushed inside.

I put onix and butterfree in the daycare, and Brendon put in just butterfree. Then I turned around and asked Darryll if he had seen Sarah. He said he hadn't.

We didn't know, but Sarah was way past us, and farther than we ever could've belived.
