The Shadow

A shadow streaks through the empty sky,

It drops gently, head bowed as if shy.

A stranger to day, bringer of fear.

Lowers its hood, face twisted in leer.

Its partner, curled up in a yellow ball,

Stretches and answers the hunter's blood call.

Both leap high, faces gleaming with light.

Flying and fighting, in the dead of the night.

Know not his name, speak not his tale.

The one cloaked in mystery, ne'er leaving a trail...

He who wears the cloak of sheer black.

The man who dares not even look back.

Yet tell of his power, his might and his speed,

Also the way he rides Death's wild steed.

The compassion he shows to those left defenseless

And shall fight for both love and truth, until knocked senseless.

But remember the time, when he too was shattered.

He appeared in the moonlight, bleeding, cloak tattered.

The ambassador of darkness, beaten and broken.

From the slumber of loneliness, he had finally awoken.

Missing the father he had barely known,

Feeling the love, he had rarely shown.

Seeing his one-time friends, faces distorted with grief.

All the sorrow his own, gone his strongest beliefs.

However, the woman of water was soon to arrive.

Back to remind him, why he was alive.

Hair, the red of fresh blood, eyes the blue of summer seas.

For her, every glowing flame, hastens to cease.

She took her time and cured him, when she appeared.

Took away all that he had once feared.

How she did it, no one truly knows.

Yet following her footsteps, rumours arose.

The talk of witchcraft, the stories of potions,

The incantations of magic, the medical lotions.

The Shadow listened and his partner unearthed

The deceit of mankind, what gives gossip birth.

They turned away from the limits of society.

Once more, reminded of why they were free.

Yet though they pretended, they had not forgotten,

The blow of the public, the lies of the rotten.

The pair, silently, thanked the woman of Water.

Saw how through hard times, she had failed to falter.

Returned to their cave, understanding what life, to them, meant.

Knowing those who are honest, are the ones heaven-sent.

What they had once disregarded, came back with full swing.

The real meaning of truth, the ultimate pure thing.

And so they continued their chase of the night.

Hearts with the angels, wings spread in full flight.

Yeah, I know there's no actual mention of Pokemon in the poem but hopefully you understand what I mean. Or at least – if you don't get the relation to Pokemon – like the poem.
