<So it ends?> Mew whispered to
her companions.
<Perhaps. Somehow I don't think
so.> Mewtwo replied. His body was covered with fresh scars that not even
Recover could mend. One of his eyes had been so badly damaged that it was
useless and the end of his tail was missing. Still, he had given worse to
Celebi. And death didn't really seem like a fit punishment for such a betrayal.
"It may be the end for humans.
We all know what that means and I believe that was what he truly
intended." Leo remarked from the other side of Mew. His dark mane
fluttered in the hot, tainted breeze that blew from the destroyed mansion.
“We know.” Anticuno said bitterly
from beside her sister Articuno. The two ice birds were maintaining a wary
distance.
<Well, we failed.>
“Ha,” Anticuno laughed shortly,
“That’s something that doesn’t happen often. I guess our hero wasn’t up to par,
huh.”
“We choose the wrong sister.”
Articuno put in softly her red eyes sorrowful at Jamis’ death.
“No sense in crying over spilt milk.
What’s done is done.” Raikou said briskly, “We need to starting thinking of our
future.”
A clamor of voices started up as
each legendary either protested or amended his statement.
Then Mew’s clear voice rang over the
small assembly, <We shall leave then, and find some place to reside until
this is all over. Perhaps in the future we can again reveal ourselves to
whatever is left.>
“What of Sha’lace?” Leo asked
briefly. What he was really asking was about his son except he didn’t want to
voice his concerns in front of Mewtwo.
<She can find us.> Mewtwo said
dismissively, <And so can your son.>
<Then it is settled. May the
changing times pass leaving stability once again.>
