Nightmare

Note: I had this idea for a story a long time ago and just now wrote it down. I hope you enjoy it. I know it’s a bit short but it’s sweet.

Characters:

Ash: 20

Misty: 20

May: 19

‘This is it…’ Misty thought to herself triumphantly. ‘This is my chance to tell Ash how I feel! We’re alone out here on the boat, looking up at the stars, drinking wine! Nothing can ruin this lifelong dream I’ve had for so long! Not even Raichu, who always manages to break every kiss we have!’

Misty sipped her wine quietly, watching Ash gaze up at the stars, thinking quietly to himself. Sighing deeply, she faced him fully preparing herself to tell him when suddenly he also turned to her.

“Misty, I’ve got something to tell you.” Ash whispered.

“Wait, I have something to tell you too.” Misty murmured.

“Okay. You can go first…”

“Look Ash…” Misty began nervously. “We’ve known each other for ten years right?” Ash nodded and she went on. “And we’ve been going out for a month right? Well, I’ve noticed something over the years… I… I… I love you…”

“Misty…” Ash muttered. “I… I’m… sorry but… I’m in love with someone else…”

“What?!”

Suddenly a delicate figure came out from the shadows, revealing itself to be May…

“Hello, Misty.” May smiled, putting her slender arms around Ash’s shoulder seductively.

“I’m in love with May…” Ash grinned looking down at May. “We’re getting married in two months!”

“Wha-?” Misty backed away from them slowly. “I… I…”

Before her very eyes the two lovers began to kiss, causing her heart to burst in pain. She felt her tears begin to well up in her eyes and just as a tear fell, she fell back into a black pit of darkness. She could still she Ash and May kissing as he fell into the seas of darkness, crying and screaming her grief.

“Ash! Ash! Don’t leave me! ASH!!!” Misty cried.

“Misty wake up! Misty! Wake up! You’re having a nightmare!” Ash whispered urgently in her ear.

“No… no… no…” Misty moaned tossing and turning in their large sleeping bag they shared together since they had been going out. “Don’t leave me… May… Ash… No… Why…?”

“Misty!” Ash shook her until finally she stirred.

Misty slowly opened her eyes, surprised to see Ash before her, concern written all over his face. (Raichu was still fast asleep beside the sleeping bag.)

“Ash?...” she waited until her eyes were focused. “Ash!” she threw herself against him in a huge bear hug toppling them over until she was on top of him, talking rapidly, “Oh Ash, don’t leave me, don’t leave me, please don’t! I don’t want you to leave me ever again!”

“Misty, Misty… calm down. It was only a nightmare…” Ash held her face in his hands, forcing her to look at him. “I’ll never leave you… Never… I care about you too much.”

“Oh Ash! I love you!” Misty hugged him closely as she smiled.

“Wait… you love me…?” Ash asked not sure if he had heard right.

Suddenly Misty became aware of what she had just said. Face burning, she pulled away from him and turned away from him.

“Never mind…” Misty muttered as she resumed back to the sleeping back. “It was nothing…” ‘He probably doesn’t feel the same way… Maybe we’ll break up in the morning…’

Ash sat there, staring at her incredulously. He suddenly smiled and lying down beside her, he faced her. He slowly slipped his hands in hers. She opened her eyes and looked at him curiously.

“I love you too Mist…” Ash gave her a small affectionate kiss on her forehead.

“Oh… Ash!” Misty scooted closer to him and kissed his cheek. “I love you…”

“Will you marry me?” Ash blurted out.

“Of course.” Misty smiled.

Suddenly Ash pulled out a small box from his pajama pocket. Misty stared at it.

“I was think of asking tomorrow but…” Ash shrugged. He opened the box and slipped the diamond ring on her finger.

“Good night Ash…” Misty smiled holding onto his hand with love.

“Good night Misty…” Ash grinned holing onto her hand with love. “Sweet dreams…”

Note: I told you it was short! But still, very cute. This came from some random inspiration from Robby Bevard’s art that won the Golden Pokeball Award back in February of 2005. So you can imagine how long this idea has been in my head. ^_^ Next I’ll update Choices okay? I really wanna finish it soon! Anywhoos…
