POKEMON Golden Sun Series
Aspendragon
Part Twenty- A Moony Analysis
"I can’t believe that tunnel brought us all the way to Viridian," Coco said, Bayline and Squall nodded in agreement.
"Pika," How long will it take to get to Pallet? Peppermint asked.
"At least a day Pepper," Coco answered. Bayline and Squall looked at each other then at Coco.
"Coco, don’t you think you should tell us why you can speak in pokemon?" Squall asked. Coco tried to sound and look innocent.
"To tell you the truth-" They waited for the answer. Coco grinned goofy-like. "No idea!" They both fell.
"Well, I guess we better camp out, the Sun is almost completely down now and-" Bayline began before grinning. "It’s snowing!" White flurries came down. This time they knew, it was nature’s work. Since it was December.
"Since Christmas is coming, why don’t we spend some time with my family before we go to Cinnabar," Coco said. Bayline nodded, knowing her family wouldn’t be interested, Squall put his hands in his pockets.
"Can I invite my family over?" he asked.
"Sure, there’s enough room for you all, Squally," Coco giggled. Bayline laughed at Squall’s face.
"Hey! You’re new aren’t ya?" a voice asked. They looked ahead of them. A boy of eleven, with short brown hair, deep green eyes, Jean shorts, and a red T-shirt with white, bold letters of PL on it stood there.
"Not really, I’m just heading back home," Coco told him. Squall stepped in front of her.
"Do you want to battle?" Squall asked. Bayline growled.
"You read my mind, one-on-one good?" the boy asked. Squall nodded.
"Fine! Go! Driller!" the boy shouted, releasing a beedrill.
"Bee! Bee!" the bug cried. Squall threw Torch’s ball.
"I choose you Torch!" Torch appeared.
"Growl!" Great! My first match! Torch growled. He bared his teeth at Driller. Besides the slight buzzing, everything was quiet till the commands were shouted.
"Use Ember Torch!" Squall yelled. Torch opened his mouth, sending several balls of red and yellow and orange at Driller.
"Dodge em’ then use Pin Missle!" The boy commanded. Driller missed some of the attacks until the last three hit him. But he wasn’t out just yet. Then Driller pointed his drills at Torch and launched several tiny, but thick needles at Torch. Torch jumped out of their path.
"Great job Torch! Now use Ember again!" Squall shouted. Another fire attack barely got Driller, but Squall and Torch were ready.
"Hurry and jump and use Tackle!" Squall yelled. Torch jumped into the air and tackled Driller in the side. He fell to the ground, but tried to stand up.
"Now use Bite before it can fly away!" Torch bit into one of Driller’s drills and he fainted.
"I win!" Squall shouted as the boy returned the beedrill to his poke’ball. Squall scratched Torch behind his ears.
"Great job Boy, return!" Squall said with a smile as the ball sucked Torch into it.
"Great battle, I haven’t lost in a long time." The boy said, holding out his hand, Squall shook it. "My name is Dean, yours?"
"Squall, and these are my friends Coco Tradet and Baby Bayline Silverson, and of course Peppermint." Squall introduced before Bayline told him to ‘Shut it’.
"Nice to meet you, and since your traveling through. Come to my place to sleep. My grandparents won’t mind," Dean said as he motioned for them to follow him through the forest.
"Hey! Grandma! Grandpa! I have some friends for you to meet!" Dean shouted as they came across a small cottage. Flowers surrounded it; they spotted a garden a little way from it as well.
"Why, hello there," an elderly woman greeted as she came out of the cottage. She was wearing a pink dress with a white, lacy apron on. Her black, graying hair was up in a tight bun.
"Grandma, I would like you to meet Squall, Coco Tradet, Peppermint, and Bayline Silverson." Dean introduced. Then an elderly man walked up from the side of the house with a machop that looked just as old.
"Hello, may we introduce ourselves then, my name is Kaki, and my wife here is Susan, this is my machop, Rusty." Kaki explained. Dean released Driller, obviously his only pokemon.
"Can they stay for the night Grandma? They’re going to pallet," Dean explained. Susan nodded.
"Sure, it’s not common having company, stay as long as you like," Susan said as she went back inside.
"You guys have fun, me and the pokemon have some gardening to do, come Rusty and Driller." Kaki said as he and the pokemon vanished behind the wall.
"Since you’ll be staying here let me show you something." Dean said as he ran through a bush, they followed. They followed Dean through bushes, around trees, and over stones. It seemed wherever he was going, was taking a long time to get to.
"See? I found this a little while ago," Dean pointed to a waterfall, going into a small pond. Peppermint immediately jumped in.
"Release your pokemon, Driller and Rusty loved it here, why not yours?" Dean said. They nodded all the pokemon was quickly released. They all cried happily as they saw the waterfall and either played, swam, or napped, or maybe even climbed up the trees. Firestorm was deep in thought again, as if meditating.
"Hey, Firestorm! Why are you always thinking like this, you’re allowed to have fun every now and then," Coco said as she sat across from her pokemon.
"Charmeleon," I have something to tell, I know someone named Moyia, remember? Firestorm said.
"Yeah?"
"Charmeleon, char char," We have been in contact since I began my journey with you. Telepathically though, but our communication broke when Arcticuno was captured. Leaving me to believe…
"What Firestorm?"
"Charmeleon, charrr," I think Moyia is Arcticuno. Firestorm finished.
"Really, how do you know?" Coco asked politely.
"Charmeleon char char charmeleon," When I tried to talk to her during the snowstorm, nothing but screeching, very similar to Arcticuno’s sorrowful cry. While we were journeying, she always warned if something were to happen, like Bayline’s transformation, but something has gone wrong to make her act this way. Making her irresistible to Team Rocket, Firestorm explained.
"Great, they’re probably planning on using her to change the whole globe into an icicle." Coco said back. Firestorm nodded. "But I really think you should talk and play with the other pokemon," Firestorm stared at her as she stood up.
"Don’t worry, we’ll get Moyia back." Coco said to her as she walked back to Dean, and the arguing Squall and Bayline.
"Do they fight like this all the time?" Dean asked her.
"Almost all the time I’m afraid," she answered. "Can we explore the cave behind the waterfall, I’m sure I saw a shadow."
"Your right, that’s another reason for being here, follow me, you can leave your pokemon out here." Dean told them as he pulled Squall along, while Coco took Bayline.
"Wow!" Coco muttered as they crawled through a small opening into the cave behind the waterfall.
"Look all these descriptions!" Squall said, forgetting Bayline. The walls were covered from floor to ceiling with pokemon pictures. Coco was especially interested in a pikachu and a gyarados picture. That’s when she spotted something else. Something shining on the floor. While everyone else was looking the other way, she picked it up, it was the same substance as the moon gem, but was flat, and a massive hole that had only a millimeter length to the inside. It was completely hollow, reminding her of a thin doughnut. She put it in the same pocket as the other gem and the orb.
The orb glowed again, the flickered off.
"This is really interesting, isn’t it Coco?" Bayline asked as she tried to pick out a rock out of the wall. "Hey, isn’t this a Moon Stone?" Bayline asked, a sparkling rock the size of Bayline palm with minor holes was shining in front of her.
"Yeah! It is! I found three Moon Stones during the last six months since I found this place. But I had no use for them," Dean said.
"Cool, can I keep it?" Bayline asked.
"Only if you have a use for it," Dean chuckled. Bayline quickly told him of her clefairy.
"When she learns a few more attacks, I’ll evolve her into a cute clefable!" Bayline said. Squall rolled his eyes.
"Well, we better get going. The moon is up," Dean said as he ran out of the cave. Followed by the rest of them. Coco eyed the moon after she recalled all her pokemon back, so did Squall and Bayline. It was a waxing Gibbous! The full moon was coming fast.
"Oh no," Bayline mumbled as she stared at the moon.
"Don’t worry about it Bayline, we destroyed that gem a while ago." Coco said. Bayline shook her head; Dean was walking past the trees then stopped to wait. Peppermint jumped onto Coco’s shoulder.
"You guys don’t get it. It’s a curse that will last for an eternity" Bayline said as she closed her eyes. The same round, blue crystal appeared on her forehead.
"I only transform on the first night of the Full Moon," Bayline explained, "If you keep on breaking my crystal though. Which now you can’t do since you have no more gold, I might be able to control my beast self. But, gold just won’t cut it this time…"
"Hello! Are you guys ready to go to sleep or not!" Dean shouted.
