POKEMON Golden Sun Series Two: A Heart of Gold

Part Thrity-Six
Battle than Trouble
Last time Coco and Squall received their fourth badge, as for Bayline. She skipped out of a thought of mere logic and is now therefore traveling with the two as to now thinking about what she would rather do than battle. But anyhow, they have to stay in Celadon for another day till Erika is finished with Errol’s medicine before they can head off.
"You know Bayline, it’s only been a week. The S.S. Faye won’t be leaving till another two weeks, plenty of time to go to the next gym." Coco said cheerfully. "I’m really looking forward to battling…hm, what gym are we heading for now?" she asked.
"Since we need to go back to Saffron to give the medicine back to the hospital for Errol. We can battle the gym leader there. A woman named Sabrina owns that gym, seems to be a Psychic trainer as well. You’re going to have to rely on Moonshine to win that battle for you, not sure for me…" Squall answered as he read the travel guide.
The Trainer Triad rented a room at the Pokemon Center and now it was morning and they were in the cafeteria eating breakfast.
"Maybe Fang would work, or Torch." Coco suggested as the Chansey waiter came around and took their dirty dishes. Bayline was still eating.
"I’ll think about it later, but why don’t we go out and find some battles!" Squall said.
"All right let’s go!" Coco cried happily as she, Squall, and Peppermint walked away. Than the chansey waiter came back and a put a piece of paper on the table, Bayline held it up to her face and sweat-dropped.
"HEY! YOU CAN’T LEAVE ME WITH THE BILL!" Bayline shouted.
"Let’s see, hey! Are you a pokemon trainer?" Coco asked many people in the streets. She and Squall both were asking tirelessly for a fight. But no one seemed to even have a pokemon license. "In a city full of people, not one owns a pokemon." Coco whined as she and Squall sank down on a bench. Peppermint slid down her shoulder to the edge of the bench.
"Hey! It’s a pikachu!" someone cried, before either of them knew it. Three kids were pulling at Peppermint’s face.
"Piika piii," Peppermint squealed as her face was stretched this way and that. Coco jumped to her feet just as Peppermint began sparking.
"Hold on kids!" Coco said as she yanked Peppermint out of their grip just as she released a Thundershock. "Don’t ever play with electricity," she said as she coughed up a puff of black smoke. The kids clapped and Peppermint glowered down at them.
"Children! How many times have I told you not to go about snatching pokemon away from their trainers?" a woman cried as she ran up to the three. She had orange, curly hair back in a frizzy bun and green eyes. She wore a yellow dress. "I’m sorry, I hope they haven’t caused any trouble." She apologized.
"No worries, I know no one can resist touching an active plug." Coco said aloud sarcastically. Peppermint scratched the back of her head in embarrassment. The kids looked up at Peppermint, than looked at the charred Coco.
"Sorry, forgot my manners. My name is Rebecca, and these are my younger cousins, Kiki (A girl with purple hair down to her shoulders with gray eyes. She wore a black T-shirt and blue shorts. In her arms there was a pikachu doll), Molly (A girl with blond hair up in a short ponytail and blue eyes. She wore a pink T-shirt with a rattata on it with blue shorts.) and Mamo (A boy with brown hair in a neat haircut and light brown eyes. He wore a white shirt with blue pants.)" she introduced.
"My name is Coco Tradet from Pallet, and this is Peppermint." Coco said.
"And I’m Squall Togoroti," Squall said.
"Nice to meet you, but a few minutes ago I could have sworn I heard people asking for a battle. That wouldn’t have been you could it?" Rebecca asked.
"Yep! That was us," Coco answered.
"Well than, I have a little brother at home that’s been wanting to battle Erika horribly, but my mother won’t allow it." Rebecca said, "Do you think you can show him the true strength of strong pokemon? I’m sure if he realizes how hard it is to battle a trainer that defeated a couple of gym leaders he’ll change his mind."
"How did you know we defeated gym leaders already?" Coco asked, Squall sweat-dropped.
"Aren’t you the Trainer Triad?" Rebecca asked.
"Oh yeah! We are," Coco said. "And we’ll be happy to battle your brother."
"All right than, follow me." She said as she and the three cousins walked away with Coco and Squall following. Meanwhile hidden in the brush…
"We’ll begin operation immediately as soon as she enters Location #312, be ready." Hilary growled into the walkie-talkie.
"Roger that, over and out." The voice on the other side replied.
"Gabriel! I have a challenger here for you!" Rebecca shouted as they entered a small house a little out of the city. Kiki, Molly, and Mamo ran into it and up the stairs. The following sound of bangs on the door and shouts from a boy followed.
"What?" the same boy voice shouted as the cousins pulled a boy at the age of thirteen down the stairs. He had green hair with long bangs, brown eyes, and wore a black shirt with a white vest and blue Jeans. His belt had six poke’balls on it.
"I met a girl outside willing to battle you," Rebecca said, "Oh! And this is Gabriel. Gabriel, this is Coco and Squall." Gabriel was finally released from his younger cousins as he walked over to the two.
"All right, just don’t cry after I beat you." He said with a smirk.
"As long as you aren’t a sore loser." She retorted with a frown.
Rebecca than led them through the house and into the backyard, there wasn’t a battlefield, but it was cleared. Coco took one side, and Gabriel did the other. Squall refereed.
"This will be a three-on-three pokemon battle! Both competitors may switch pokemon during battle! When all three pokemon are unable to battle, the opponent winds! Ready? BEGIN!" Squall shouted.
"Go! Moonshine!" Coco shouted, releasing her ball of purple gas.
"Ghasstly!" Moonshine cackled.
"Fine than! Go Buster!" Gabriel cried, revealing a well-built, blue pokemon.
"Machoke, the Superpower pokemon," Dexter beeped, "Its muscular body is so powerful that it must wear a power-save belt to help regulate its motions."
Seems like a nice pokemon, I wonder how good its battle techniques are. She thought with a grin. "Are you ready Moonshine?" she nodded. "Than use Hypnosis!"
"Gasss!" Moonshine cried as her eyes glowed and released ripples of hypnotic energy towards the machoke. It effected the pokemon greatly as it dozed off slightly.
"Come on Buster! Use Karate Chop!" Gabriel ordered, Buster slightly shook his head before charging at Moonshine with his fists raised and poised to attack. It was a Fighting-type attack, so it would effect Moonshine, though Coco didn’t know that.
"Gass!" Moonshine cried as the attack landed on her after dodging about four of the attacks.
"How could that hurt Moonshine?" Coco asked as Moonshine floated upward again and began smiling wickedly down at Buster.
"Figures, Buster is a Fighting Pokemon, thus with Fighting attacks. Since they are not Normal attacks, they can hit Ghost Pokemon." Gabriel explained.
"But it’s still a physical attack." Coco pointed out.
"Fighting and Normal type attacks are two different breeds of pokemon and techniques! If they were so similar, they would have the same name!" Gabriel said impatiently. "Now enough chat! Buster! Use another Karate Chop!"
"Oh no you don’t! Moonshine! Confusion! Hold those fists still than swing him into the ground!" Coco shouted. Moonshine’s eyes glowed and as Buster’s arms came down on her, they stopped in midair an inch away from her body. And just as she was instructed, the lifted the arms high with the body following than swung it all down to the ground.
"Now use Hypnosis!" Coco shouted as Buster looked up through the clearing dirt and dust. Moonshine’s eyes glowed again and this time was much more effective on Buster, he dozed into dreamland in an instant.
"Buster is unable to battle! Moonshine wins!" Squall announced.
"Great job Moonshine! You deserve a great rest!" Coco said proudly as she returned Moonshine to her ball than went on to her next pokemon; Gabriel did the same and already maximized a ball.
"I choose you Minoru!" Coco shouted as she and Gabriel released their pokemon at the same time. He released what looked like a bull with three tails.
"Tauros, the Wild Bull Pokemon," Dexter beeped, "When it targets an enemy, it charges furiously while whipping its body with its long tails."
Sounds like it’s abusing itself…Coco growled mentally as Squall shouted ‘begin’.
"Go Rocky! Use Take Down!" Gabriel shouted, the bull charged at Minoru with great speed and than knocked him into the air.
"Use Solar Beam!" Coco cried, as Minoru’s bulb’s opening began to glow, it stopped. "Huh? What’s going on Minoru?"
"Bulba!" No idea! He answered as he landed on all fours, with a purple bruise on his forehead.
Probably didn’t master it, last time must have been a fluke! Squall thought as Rocky charged after Minoru again.
"Jump to the left than use Vine Whip to wrap its legs together!" Coco shouted, Minoru dodged successfully than his vines constricted the bull’s limbs. It fell to the ground with a loud thump. But it struggled on, Coco saw Minoru beginning to sweat from the strength he was putting into his vines to try and keep the raging pokemon down.
"Break loose Rocky than use Tail Whip!" Gabriel ordered. Rocky’s legs were pulled together, than in an instant of power, its legs jerked in four different directions and the vines withdrew back into their master. Minoru growled at the bull who now stood up, his tails facing him. Suddenly the three tails jerked in several movements, each move hitting Minoru in the face.
"Use your vines to bat them away Minoru!" Coco shouted. Minoru brought back out his vines and the vines and the tails began swatting at each other, when one of the vines swatted the pokemon’s rear, it charged forward than turned and charged back at Minoru in a raging pace.
"Use Take Down and send the pokemon to Saffron!" Gabriel shouted, Rocky slammed into the smaller pokemon, and certainly did make the wingless, and not-born-to-fly pokemon into several trees before he landed on the ground, swirls replacing his eyes revealed that he fainted.
"Minoru! Are you all right?" she asked as she ran over to the pokemon, a small ‘bulb…’ kind of answered her question. "You did great Minoru, you deserve a good rest." She said, than returned Minoru to his poke’ball as Gabriel did the same.
"One last round, this one decides whose the winner!" Gabriel shouted over to Coco, she smiled confidently.
"I think you’re expecting to win, I don’t go down without a good fight Gabriel!" she said in defense as Gabriel maximized another ball. "Ya ready Pepper?" she asked Peppermint, who was sparking excitedly next to her. She nodded.
"All right! Go Peppermint!"
"I choose Meifa!" Gabriel shouted as he released another pokemon that looked like a cross between an extremely hairy pig and an ape.
"Mankey, the Pig Monkey Pokemon," Dexter beeped, "Normally friendly, it quickly becomes angry if it doesn’t get what it wants."
"Go Meifa! Use Scratch!" Gabriel ordered.
"Mankeeey!" Meifa cried as he ran towards Peppermint.
"Use Quick Attack!" Coco shouted, Peppermint shot towards Meifa in return, and slammed herself into its body. "You’re too slow!"
"That’s what you think! Use Fury Swipes!" Gabriel shouted. Meifa managed to hit Peppermint twice before Peppermint was a good difference away from. "I guess I have to admit you’re fast!"
"Thanks! Peppermint! Thundershock!" Coco ordered.
"Piiikaaaachhuuuuuuuuuuuu!" Peppermint cried as the static bolt of electricity shocked the Pig Monkey pokemon; it fainted instantly.
"The winner of this round and match is Coco and Peppermint!" Squall declared happily.
Meanwhile, back with Bayline (Whom was wandering the streets again looking for a good clothes shop), her eyes than spotted something squashed in between the buildings. An arcade! Her eyes widened with delight, not only did she love clothes, she liked kicking virtual butts and boys at their games.
I wonder if they have a DDR? She wondered as she walked into the arcade. She instantly was overwhelmed by beeps, laser shooting effects and other gameplay noises that were quite common in arcades. But she happily saw the dancing floor with two dancers already on it.
"Maybe my pokemon should come out! C’mon out everybody!" Bayline cried. Jenta, Blossom, and Honey cried out happily as they were summoned. "Let’s play some games." They agreed instantly.
"Put operation into effect," someone whispered into a walkie-talkie, not hearing that as she passed a girl in a red T-shirt and Jeans, she was than greeted by a boy who looked four years older than her. He had dark green hair in a nicely combed haircut, brown eyes, and wore a white T-shirt with a poke’ball on it, he was wearing Jean shorts.
"Hey, you must be new here. Care to play against me in one of my games?" he asked with a bright smile. Honey, Blossom, and Jenta looked at one another. Jenta luckily was flying overhead and peered down to see a walkie-talkie clipped to his back pocket. Honey sniffed and found the faint smell of sinister.
"Uh…sure," she answered, slightly pink.
"Well than, follow me, it kind of in the corner." He said. As he began walking though the isle of games. Bayline followed, so did her pokemon. "Here it is," he pointed at a game screen in front of him with black pokemon painted onto its body. She walked forward and her eyes narrowed when she realized it wasn’t on. She realized too late.
Immediately, the boy had one hand over her mouth and the others around her arms. As she struggled, the girl in a red T-shirt grabbed Honey and Blossom without any of the other players noticing, basically because they were too into the games they were playing, and the fake game was not in their sights.
Jenta fluttered as fast as she could without being noticed as a man walked in fortunately, she flew out and went in search for Coco, Squall, and Peppermint.
"That was a great battle, I can’t wait to see you battle in the Kanto League!" Rebecca complimented. She had led them all to a table near her house and each had a cup of tea in front of them. Kiki, Molly, and Mamo were playing Tag nearby. Gabriel seemed to have taken the loss hard, and was silent for most of the conversation.
"That was a great battle," Coco said quickly. Peppermint wasn’t listening as well, since she was slurping up Squall’s drink without him noticing till some of the tea spilled out and landed on his lap.
"You little! All right!" he lunged for Peppermint, she squealed and jumped to the ground, Squall chased after her. "Into the blender you go Pep!" Squall threatened. Peppermint was smirking as she was chased around, Kiki, Mamo, and Molly found this entertaining and ran after Squall.
"She’s right you know Gabe, she even told me herself that she was looking for a good battle and she just told you that you were in the category she was looking for." Rebecca tried to reassure. Gabriel half-glared at Coco as she sipped some tea.
"I did! You were one of my most intense challengers for the past couple of weeks. It amazes me to how good you are without traveling around like I do." Coco said with a smile that brightened up Gabriel’s face.
"Well, I train night and day so I can prove to my mother that I can battle Erika some day!" Gabriel said.
"I’m sure she’ll change her mind sometime," Coco said. But that was when something hit her head hard and made her chair backwards with her in it.
"Ugh…"
"Are you okay?" Rebecca asked as she and Gabriel looked down at Coco. Squall and Peppermint noticed and ran over, the triplets were confused, but than resumed their game of Tag.
"Jenta?" Squall said, Jenta fluttered from Coco’s face (Which now her eyes were replaced by swirls) to Squall’s hands.
"Befreeee!" she squealed, that woke Coco up. She bolted up onto her feet and looked at Jenta angrily.
"What is it Coco?" Squall asked.
"Team Shadow, they’ve got Bayline."
