Chapter 2
Misty wasn’t feeling too good after having a little argument with Ash one hour ago. And wanted to see if somehow she could apologize. So she thought she could spend a nice evening with him if she invited him to go out, and spoke first:
- Hey, Ash... as we have no programmed battles for today, would you like to go to the cinema? Please, come with me Ash.
- What for? You don’t need me, remember?
- ...Ok, I’m sorry. You were right. I can’t stand lying but... I didn’t have the nerve to admit it... It’s true, of course I need you, you’re my best friend. Forgive me... please?
- ...Obviously, Misty. I accept your apology, ‘cos I need you too.
- Thank you. Are you coming now?
- Yeah, I’d love to. What do you wanna see?
- I don’t know, it’s the same. You choose.
- Um, well... what about "Hidden feelings"? You won’t resist that one.
- "Hidden feelings"? And since when do you like romantic films?
- Well, I’m not used to like them. But I know you do. And I think it will be a good film.
I just wanna enjoy that moment with you.
Ok, I’ll be ready in a while. I won’t loose this opportunity!
Alright. Yes, I know exactly what to do now, I saw it on other film.
Ten minutes later, Ash was waiting for Misty when he saw her going downstairs. She was wearing a long pink skirt, with a white T-shirt, both clothes skintight, and her hair was dawn. Ash stayed astonished.
- Well, are you ready?
- Uh? Oh! Yeah. Wow! Are you?
- Sure, I’ll call for a taxi. Say something!
- Ok... And, Mist? (He stared at her again.)
- What?
- You look... pretty nice. Oh, thanks God I could say it!
- ...Oh, thank you very much, Ash. You’re really sweet. (She started blushing as she went to make the call.)
The taxi came at the speed of light (doesn’t that sound familiar?), and Ash hurried to open the door, but didn’t get in.
- You go first, Milady. (He said with a playful smile.)
- Oh, thanks, Milord. What a gentleman. (She smiled back.)
When they arrived, Ash paid for the travel and the tickets. Misty could do nothing but smile at him. Soon they got into the theatre and Ash was looking for the perfect place to sit. He had already thought of everything.
- There has to be... Oh, yeah! There it is. That couple's perfect. What about there, Mist?
- Sure, it might have a good sight.
- Ok, c’mon. (He quickly took a hold of her hand and ran hoping they get there before anyone else.)
When they sat on the armchairs, Misty could notice that they were right behind a couple. Just then the advertisements, that always seem to last an hour, started to be seen on screen.
- Oh, not this again! Why do we always have to wait so much time? Everything’s going perfect. (Ash was complaining but happy at the time.)
- Well Ash, it’s just for some minutes.
- I’ve got an idea! Let’s play something.
- You wanna play now? There’s nothing to do here.
- Why not? Just let me think... Oh, I know!
- What? Twister? Or hide and seek?
- No, I’m serious. (He neared to her ear and whispered.) Why don’t we choose someone to imitate? Just like a competition game: each of us chooses a person to imitate, and then we’ll see who does it better. The looser then gives a prize to the winner, whatever it wants... What do you say?
- I say you must be kidding.
- Oh, c’mon, Misty, please? I’m so bored.
- And you thought of that all of a sudden?
- Oops! Like, yes. Like, I think so.
- Don’t start talking like my sisters!
- Whatever, Mist. Will you?
- ...Ok, Ash.
- Great! I’ll imitate... that child over there. And you? Let’s start with something easy.
- ... His mum, who’s yelling at him right now.
- Well, I didn’t do it, mum! You have to believe me!
- If I have just seen you! You already won a punishment, kid!
- No, I didn’t stick the gum on the girl's hair! It was the other guy! I swear! (They started laughing.)
- Shut up, you disrespectful little evil! Everybody’s watching you cry as a stupid baby!
- No, please, let me stay for the movie! (They were having fun, until...)
- ... Ash!! (She had a worried face.)
- No, mum. I won’t go outs-
- Ash, shut up!
- What?!
- Everybody is looking at us! Even the real mum and kid... Say something!
- Oh! Er, I’m sorry, Mrs. We didn’t want to attract the attention, or...
- Or make you get angry! (They both nodded.)
- That’s right.
The woman accepted their apology and sat down. Both Ash and Misty made a relief expression.
- Oh, my God! We might look so ridiculous. (Said Misty.)
- Yeah... and we don’t even know who won the game.
- I did! Because I discovered that they were looking at as, and of course, I’m an excellent actress.
- Yes, sure... Well, the movie hasn’t started yet, so let’s play once more.
- And we’ll be the make me laugh again.
- Not if we change the characters.
- But we gotta choose someone who’s not yelling or shouting.
- I propose you something. (He neared to her ear and whispered.) You see those two? (Pointing to the couple below them.)
- Aha.
- Well, let’s imitate them!
- But, Ash. They’re probably a couple.
- They really don’t look like a couple to me. God, I hope they are. I didn’t see them hugging or whatever. Maybe they are just good friends, like you and I.
- I don’t know.
Suddenly a voice was heard in all the theatre. "Warner Brothers Pictures, presents..."
- Misty, the movie’s starting. Just say you’ll play and I won’t bother anymore. Alright?
- ...Oh, alright Ash.
- Great!
- ...What are you thinking of?
The movie went on and Ash and Misty stayed tuned to it and the couple at the same time. There were times when they only watched attentively, but there were others when...
- Mist, look at that! (He whispered to her.)
- Yeah, I know.
- Ok, I won’t loose in this game...
First, he just took a hold of her hand, that was ok with Misty. But then, things became more intense. Slowly, he started to put his arm around her back, sweetly, touching lightly her hair. All was exactly as those two people below, or better. She just let him do all that, thinking that maybe that was going to be her only opportunity to be in his arms.
- This is getting so weird... (She said in a low voice.)
- Yes, isn’t it? But anyway I wanna keep on playing so that I can claim my prize later.
- It’s fine, I just say that it isn’t what I expected.
- Look, they’re moving again...
Misty felt like in pure Heaven when Ash pulled her head to his chest, and started to get lost in his warmth. From that moment, the voices of the characters of the movie were just like background music to her. And as there was no other chance, Misty also embraced him and raised up her face to look right into his eyes. Just then, they both forgot about the imitating game, and continued their own way. Ash couldn’t believe what he was just seeing: Misty was so close to him, anybody else there could swear they were about to kiss each other. She slowly closed her eyes and wished he kissed her. Ash could feel what she was meaning. He put one hand on her face, moved her hair along, and then the same hand began to go down, touching slightly her cheek, ending with his fingers on her warm lips. She seemed to like that contact, and suddenly kissed in a very sweet way each and every Ash’s fingers. Then she held strongly his hand with hers and took it to her heart. Ash was completely red and surprised, but she couldn’t notice it because of the darkness. Ash had no doubt that it was his opportunity. He had thought it could be his chance to try to kiss her, because he thought of that "game" by the way. But he never imagined it was going to be that way. Anyway, yet with his hand on her heart, he went to make those yet two centimeters of distance disappear. Misty was looking at him with a surprised expression but a playful, big smile. She closed her eyes again when she saw Ash willing to kiss her. The butterflies inside were eating them alive. "Ok. It’s now or never." He thought. Then he separated a little his lips to give his true love their very first kiss ever, and went up to her.
To be continued...
