Take a Penny, Leave a Penny

A/N: Just a little Ash/Misty flirtation, nothing big. But, today I walked into an ice cream parlor to get some, well, ice cream. They had a Take a Penny, Leave a Penny box, and because I had my trusty notepad and pencil with me, I ate my chocolate ice cream and got to work on the rough draft of the story you’re about to read. If you’re looking for a heated romance novel filled with drama and “activities” in it, this isn’t the story for you.

“ASH! This isn’t that hard of a decision! Though, maybe the choice between Chocolate and Vanilla is a difficult choice for someone as dense as you. Just pick one!” Misty exclaimed one day in Loraine’s Ice Cream Parlor.

“It’s difficult Misty! I could make a mistake that could change the rotation pattern of the planet or break out from some unknown allergy to a certain flavor!” Ash retorted.

“It’s all right, Ash. Just take your time, but I’m sure none of your decisions will result in a planetary disaster.” Loraine said from behind the counter. She was Brock’s girlfriend for 2 years and still counting.

“I think I’ll get…. Um…. Chocolate…” He said. “NO. Wait, I’ll get Vanilla… Ugh I don’t know.” He said as Loraine scooped up a huge scoop of the brown ice cream that was Ash’s pending order of Chocolate ice cream.

“You get chocolate; my sister already scooped it for you Ash.” Caye said as she pointed out Loraine holding his scoop of ice cream.

While Misty was paying, Ash got curious about the Take a Penny, Leave a Penny box that sat next to the tip jar. “Hey Mist, what’s this for?” he asked her about the small blue box with pennies in it.

“Duh, Ash. It’s a Take a Penny, Leave a Penny box.” Ash still looked dumbfounded. “Oh my gosh. What you do is if you need 3 pennies, you take five and you can put a nickel in. Ash- what are you doing?” She asked him as he put his hand in the box of pennies and took a huge scoop out.

“I’m saving up for college tuition.” He said.

“You can only use it if you get accepted into college. That would be a miracle.”

“HEY! Wait- That’s my money!” Ash said as Misty dug into Ash’s palm and took the pennies and put them back in the box.

“You can’t just take the pennies Ash, you need to trade it off.”

“Well, if I took the pennies and I gave you a kiss, would you let me take it?” He asked.

“That’s tempting.” She said. “Make it two and I’ll let you take all of the pennies in the box.”

“Ok… hey wait… WHA???” Ash said, completely red and growing redder, if possible.

Caye and Loraine laughed they heads off as Misty chased Ash around the room, begging for her kisses.
