A Cosmic Love by a Cosmic Downpour J part 2

Ash had gotten to the train station 30 minutes early. It was turning out to be a rather nice day. About 76 degrees although the winds were rather rough when they picked up. But they were warm so they were pleasant. He stood next to a bench on the platform occasionally sitting down only to spring back up and walk from one end of the station to the other. Pikachu was perfectly content napping on one of the cleaner café tables. However the rapid pacing of his friend was slightly nerve-wracking. Ash kept running inside and checking his face and hair only to run back in two minutes later to check his teeth. After about 15 minutes of running back and forth sitting and rising he sat down on a chair by Pikachu’s make shift lounge. Although he was now sitting Pikachu couldn’t help but to notice Ash’s feet were shaking so rapidly it was like a swarm of Beedrill were flying around the coffee table. The minutes dragged on slowly, and Ash repetitively checked his wrist watch fearing it was broken. However the train could be heard in the distance and in a couple of seconds it slowed to a stop inside the station. After a couple of minutes of watching train attendants bustle about the doors the train doors all slid open to allow the passengers out. Ash rose to his feet and took a couple paces forward and he suddenly became conscious of how awkward his hands looked. He began to go through a series of positions (arms crossed, hands behind back hand held in front of waist, hands behind head) before just settling to put his hands in his pockets. His right foot began to tap again with impatience but he stilled it at once as he eyed every single passenger out of that train. It had nearly cleared out, a rather rough breeze began to blow in his face causing his eyes to squint he could hear his tucked in button down grey shirt flatten against his body as the wind blew. And then suddenly all of his senses became overwhelmed with Misty’s presence. The wind was blowing her dark red curled tresses towards him and her dress was whipping quickly around her body, he could faintly smell hints of cherry and  Japanese cherry blossom which he knew was her shampoo of choice. Her eyes were looking around restlessly for him. Her hand kept running through her hair trying to keep her wild curls at bay from the wind. In her other hand a sleeping Azurill was pressing its body close to her. She took a timid step off of the train as an attendant followed her with her bags. Ash took another step forward and they connected eyes.

Misty’s mouth immediately curled up into a smile and she ran towards Ash. Ash couldn’t help but to grin ear to ear as he wrapped his arms tightly around Misty’s waist. The hug was not nearly long enough for either of them. But the moment they let go they began to take in the others appearance. Misty gave off a childish giggle and said

“I can’t believe how different you look!”

“You too! Your hair its..(pretty beautiful breathtaking?) so long!”

haha yeah..do you..like it?’’ Misty asked tentatively while nervously stroking her free hand through it.

uhm uh yeah! Yeah! Its really pretty Misty.”

Misty’s face immediately began to glow but she hid it well by turning to the attendant to retrieve her bags.

oh don’t worry about it Mist I’ll get them.”

Ash rushed forward to take the bags from the attendant who was still gazing at Misty like a Stantler caught in the head lights. Ash turned back to Misty to see her bent down scratching under Pikachu’s chin. Cooing softly to him. When she stood back up the wind caught her hair and blew it gently back almost as if to show Ash the beauty beneath it. They began their 15 minute walk back to Ash’s house talking rapidly without any awkward pauses, it was as if they were on the road again like in the good old days.

“I really wish you could have been there for Sinnoh Mist, there were sooo many water pokemon that you would have loved.”

“I still have trouble when I try to wrap my head over all of the water pokemon that are still being discovered.”

“I wonder what other lands are out there you know?” ash began.

“I wonder how many countries there are just brimming with pokemon that no one has ever seen.”

I’d love to take a journey just traveling you know Ash?” Misty said.

“No worrying about the gym, no raising pokemon, no races against the clock to get at a certain town before sundown, just a relaxed stroll through a country absorbing the culture.”

“I know what you mean, do you realize out of all of my journeys I only have a whomping amount of 3 count them 3 pictures total?!”

“Oh wow.” Misty softly exclaimed.

“I guess I never realized how much little down time we actually had.”

Topics changed from travels to cities to carnivals to the party that was soon approaching on them.

“I’m so excited Ash I worked soo hard on my costume! The only main reason I wanted to do this era dance was because I found a dress that I impulsively bought with no true purpose as to where I was going to wear it.”

what’s it look like?” Ash politely asked. Misty began a long story of how she came across the dress in a tiny vintange store in Cerulean City. Of how the silk fabric clung to her body in all the right places while it billowed out in others. She told him how the pleating at the bottom moved like mist as she walked. And then it hit her. Ash had been looking at her with a look that suggested he didn’t want her to stop talking. She had been talking about her dress for over five minutes and Ash hadn’t once interrupted or changed the subject to battling or how hungry he was.

“I’m sorry I must be boring you out of your mind Ash hahaha.”

“Oh no keep talking your dress sounds beautiful.”

Misty gave a shocked look back. He was actually listening, full on listening. She gave a nervous smile and told him about the hat and gloves and shoes that all seemed to find her and contribute to the outfit. When she was done Ash still didn’t look bored or tired just happy. It was then that she noticed how much taller Ash was then her now. She hadn’t even realized she had to look up to see his eyes.

“Oh my god Ash you grew!”

Slightly confused by the split change of conversation Ash proceeded to laugh hard and loudly only to be joined by Misty. They indulged in the random silliness of the moment and for some reason had little control of their breath.

“Oh god Misty I missed you.” Ash stuttered between laughs.

“I missed you too Ash.” Misty said, her giggles slowly fading.

They slowed their walking and just smiled at eachother, glad to be in the presence of friendship they suddenly realized they were outside Ash’s porch. Ash became conscious of how heavy Misty’s bags had become and quickly pushed through the gate and front door where he set the bags next to the cream pull out sofa.

“Is that you Ashy dear?” came Delila’s voice from the kitchen.

yeah ma were in here.”

Delila came rushing into the scene where she smiled widely at Misty and walked over to engulf her in a motherly hug.

“Oh Misty dear you are a vision of beauty.”

Misty surprised by this kind of compliment could think of nothing to say except for thankyou and she hugged a little bit tighter.

Stand back and let me get a good look at you.

“Goodness gracious it’s been so long!”

“I love what you did with your hair and oh my look how pretty your dress is!”

Misty taken back but happy from the barrage of compliments proceeded to say a never ending chain of thank yous.

“ Thank you so much Ms. Ketchum for letting me come early for the party.”

“Oh no trouble sweetie no trouble at all.”

“Ash, why don’t you put Misty’s bags upstairs.

Ash rapidly got up from his relaxed position and began to haul the bags away from the pull out sofa. Misty meanwhile was glancing confusedly from the sofa to the stairs.

oh really Ms. Ketchum I don’t mind at all sleeping on the sofa.”

“Don’t be silly dear! I’ve grown so accustomed to having long term visitors I redecorated our upstairs office into a guest bedroom, you’ll stay in there. Oh look at Ash what a good luggage boy first sign of movement since he’s gotten back.” Delila said carelessly. Ash raised his eyebrows, puffed out his cheeks, and gave a sarcastic smile “thanks mom you sure know how to flatter a fella.” He said so happily it bordered on crazy. The combination of the sarcastic smile, voice, and face gave Misty a case of the church giggles. Which quickly spread to Ash. Delila just happy to see her son and friends laughing joined in too. Misty followed Ash upstairs biting the inside of her cheeks to hold back the loud gasp of laughter that was aching to come out. When they got to the room adjacent to Ash’s he placed her things by the foot of the red and gold floral pattern bed and closed the door. And almost on cue the two burst once more into senseless happy laughter. Ash rolled on the bed and Misty plopped down next to him placing her Azurill on the floor who began to playful jump and chase after Pikachu. The two with eyes closed with laughter began to roll on the bed until they opened their eyes and realized their noses were a centimeter from touching. Silence immediately fell on them. They Ash stared into the Pools of turquoise baby blue and Cerulean in front of him and before he could even blink misty began shaking again with senseless silent laughter. Ash rolled on his back

what have resorted to Mist? I think we’ve gone insane?!” at hearing Ash’s words Misty’s laugh became audible again and Ash merely shook his head side to side smiling from ear to ear.

“I..I..*giggle* do you see what happens when I’m. I’m *giggle*  stuck in a gym for a year with little to no communication with anyone besides the occasional wanabee trainer?” Her laughing was calming down and she placed a hand on Ash’s chest.

“I’m glad to finally be in the presence of a friend.” She said while smiling and looking from each of Ash’s eye to the other.

“The presence of a best friend.” Ash corrected placing a hand on top of Misty’s the gesture felt so innocent, so carefree. That neither of them moved for a while as they just laid there next to each other smiling and looking into eachother’s eyes. Delila’s voice however broke the silence as it came ringing into the room from downstairs.

“ I have an early dinner ready you two come annnd get itttt!!” her sing song voice rang.

Ash patted Misty’s hand and stood up. He looked down at Misty who merely raised to hands up in the air. Ash stared back down.

up up!” Misty said quickly in a joking voice.

ugh what a baby.” Ash’s voice was playful and light.

He grabbed both of Misty’s hands and pulled her into a standing position, she however was still in a playful mood and remained entirely limp giving him no help what so ever. The two made their way downstairs Ash jokingly threatening to push her if she didn’t move faster. The two were all giggles and laughs as they sat down smiling at the table with Delila; and as they lay in their separate beds that night stomachs full of Delila’s excellent cooking the two had smiles on their faces. A mark from how perfect their reunion had truly been. Ash reached out his hand and placed it on the cool yellow wall separating his room from Misty’s, unaware that she was doing the exact same thing and that only a couple inches of dry wall was keeping their hands apart.
